    THe London Plane tree that you planted a year and a half ago has died. I did my best to give it extra water over the time that it has been there and I mulched it, but it showed signs of distress last summer and this year it is completely dead. This is a very hot location. I have a garden on the corner of Russell and Mass Ave and can only plant heat tolerant plants. Even plants that like full sun cannot survive there if they are not heat tolerant. I do not believe that the soil was well prepared for the London Plane. The soil is like concrete. Please plant a new tree that is appropriate for such a heat island location and be sure to dig out the old soil and put new and fertile soil in its place. Thanks. Sally Arnold, 6B Russell.
