    Drivers on eastbound H Street NW are running the red light at 4th Street NW. Some are keying on the light at H and Massachusetts Ave NW, which changes to green while the 4th Street light is still red. Others are aggressively turning right onto 4th against the red light. This is a design issue. We need to consider no turn on red signs and a change to the light design and/or timing before pedestrians are seriously hurt.

    Markings on New York Avenue over the North Capitol Street underpass are completely faded. Traffic turning left from northbound and southbound North Capitol is conflicting during the queueing phase by straddling the lane markings or even crossing where the double yellow lines should be, causing unnecessary backups and near collisions.

    First Street NW between New York Avenue and M Street formerly had two northbound lanes, one for left turns (onto westbound New York Ave) and one for those continuing straight or turning right. First Street was restriped a few months ago to have only one lane in each direction. This has led to backups on northbound First Street and gridlock at the intersection with M Street any time somebody is turning left onto New York. The backup occurs with even medium traffic volumes.

    Please consider reinstalling the second northbound lane so that left-turning vehicles don't stop all flow north from First and M streets NW.

    This is at the Lydian apartment construction project. At night, including during the evening commute, tons of rats are running in and out of the construction site, especially on the 4th Street side.

    Giant rat rooting around the garbage can in the big kids' (blue/purple/green) play structure at the New York Avenue Playground. It's the trash can on the east property line in the southern part of the play area

    Cars cut through the alley from O to N Streets NW in the unit block. This alley is the only vehicular access point to Hanover Pl NW and is frequently used by pedestrians. Cut-through traffic (often out-of-state) speeds through and fails to stop or yield, endangering resident drivers and pedestrians alike.

    More and more commuter traffic is cutting through the north-south alley connecting the unit blocks of O Street NW, Hanover Place NW and N Street NW to avoid the backup on southbound North Capitol Street at New York Avenue. Many speeding drivers aren't slowing down or giving room to pedestrians in the alley, and with a large construction project taking up some space on the western edge of the alley (57 N St NW), there's even less room for pedestrians to escape speeding cars.
