The alley behind 2147 O St NW has been off for about 1 month. This is the second time since fall 2016, when it was off for approx three months. There is minimal lite on 22nd street and the lack of lite from this alley lite makes this spot very dark and dangerous. It increases the likelihood of a robbery or sexual assault, in particular because there is a history here and this winter there have been many of the same between Georgetown and this location.

Area too dark to see. Streetlights on 22nd street also not on. Dangerous for both those walking on 22nd street and in alley to use dumpster as required to dispose of trash. Also puts those walking on 22nd st btw O and P streets at risk for being robbed and for sexual assault or worse. Light was also an issue during June and July last summer and was not functional and we could not secure response for three months. It's very unsafe.

2147 O St Nw Washington, DC 20037, USA - Dupont Circle
Entrances to rat dens in rear of building were covered over last week when alley behind building was bricked and repaved leaving those out of den w nowhere to go. Rats seen by neighbors and tenants of 2147 O St. at front door, running in front & side yard, on sidewalk, under bushes and in tall grasses on sides of building. Even seen on 1st floor window ledge trying to get in building under air conditioners. One evening just after dusk (Thursday October 20) there were 15-20 rats just outside front door impeding entry and egress. Ultimately they dug a burrow under bushes in front yard to left of front door as you face the building. Entry to burrow can be easily seen when entering building. They are very active and seen in daytime as well and are not afraid of people at all. We previously had multiple poison boxes surrounding the building but they have been removed over recent months due to work being done on outside of building and by city in alley. None have been replaced, leaving rats unchallenged and multiplying.

We have been trying to have this repaired for almost two months. I have received a notice stating it was completed but it has not. Please give to someone who will actually make the repair.

22nd St is very dark between O & P Sts and this makes the area very dangerous. Tenants of 2147 O St must use the dumpsters to dispose of trash but cannot use alley after dark.

Snow removal trucks have been at 22 & O St NW since 5am this morning and are still on O st. But they have not removed the snow in the alley behind 2147 O st. Trash pick up will not be possible (overflowing dumpsters) nor deliveries possible for nursing home at 2131 O St NW unless this area is clear. Entrance to alley is on 22nd St between old carriage house and back of 2147 O st NW.
  • 1401-1415 22nd St Nw Washington, DC 20037, USA - Dupont Circle
Workers from the carriage house gutting on 22nd & O St NW have been filling the dumpsters belonging to 2147 O St. NW and piling the area beside the dumpsters with bags of construction waste since the owners of the old carriage house (which once was Badlands nightclub) began gutting the building about 1-2 months ago. The tenants of 2147 O St NW are unable to put their trash inside the dumpsters because they have been filled with the carriage house construction waste and old furniture. Trash and construction waste is all over the alley, the dumpsters are unusable for the apt building, it is attracting rats and is a health and safety hazard. Some of the construction waste is boards with rusty nails protruding and possibly asbestos insulation due to the age of the building.

More appropriate time needs to be found to deliver vehicles.

I called tonite at 3:30 am to report to DPW regarding significant noise being made for over an hour by person "dropping off" three road work vehicles at the corner of 22 & O st NW. The operator at DPW sounded as though he had been awakened by my call. Instead of taking my complaint he hung up the phone. That is unacceptable behavior from a city employee. It appears that these vehicles could have been left at a more reasonable hour considering the amount of noise to be made unloading the vehicles, driving them to the other side of the intersection at 23rd & O st Nw where they would be parked and by the tractor-trailer itself hooking and unhooking and being left idling in the middle of 22nd st Nw for an hour. I called 911 to make a noise complaint. It would appear to DPW that they have no concern for the fact that this is a residential street where people must sleep before going to work in the morning. If this work is going to continue DPW needs to find an appropriate time to deliver the road work trucks to the area. It's now 5am and I can't go back to sleep. This is unacceptable. In your list for complaints there is nothing referencing noise or road work.
