This signal either does not trip for bicycles or it stays green for exactly ONE SECOND before cycling back to red. This is the signed routing for the Mohawk-Hudson Bikeway between Green Island and the end of the trail at Alexander Street. Does anyone really wonder why cyclists get hit, when they are given six seconds to get moving and clear five lanes of speedway traffic?
Other areas of the state paint on a bike symbol showing where to wait in order to trip the light, and I bet they get more than one second of green time.
    UNSAFE.
  • State Highway 9 Ballston Spa, NY 12020, USA - Saratoga County
Southbound motorists wishing to turn left into the Stewbert's property are afraid of pulling into the center median because it has diagonal "barber pole" striping. Instead they slow down and stop in the fast lane to wait for oncoming traffic before completing their turn. This is an operational nightmare and a safety hazard; a chain-reaction rear-end collision is imminent. I recommend changing the diagonal hatch striping to that of a typical center turn lane, or at least have the State Police stop by Stewie's and informing motorists that pulling out of the fast lane on a high-speed highway is preferable to causing a serious collision because there are ither vehicles on the road behind them.
  • 2796 Aqueduct Road Schenectady, New York - Schenectady County
The 2010 bike trail redux actually reduced the already short sight distance at this intersection, turning a moderately unsafe crossing into a downright hazardous one. Queued traffic during afternoon peak hours obstruct visibility further, and no one ever yields or drives conservatively in the area. Grass on adjacent slopes is not trimmed back far enough, down short enough, often enough to maintain what little visibility there is. Hopefully if I get hit and killed here I won't delay the motorists too much.
  • 1 Bridge Street Amsterdam, New York - Amsterdam
Paid for with 2005 bond act money, the proposed pedestrian bridge to reconnect the south side of the city with everywhere else still is not being built. Building demolition, property acquisition, maintenance agreements, what will be the next excuse given for why it's not getting done? I've ridden my bikes across the super-seventies route 30 bridge and it's not safe. While any sensible politician would take the money and run, what's going on here? Foot dragging. Knock it off and build the bridge.

Pushbutton on SW corner for crossing Erie Speedway has failed; button does not activate walk signal or synthetic bird chirp sounds

Do people really need to know why pedestrians keep getting run over on Central Avenue? Really? All you have to do is bring a stopwatch. The delay between pressing the pedestrian button to cross Central Avenue is a whopping *two minutes'* time, an intolerably long delay. It is plainly obvious that the roadway rehab places the needs and safety of traffic above all else; pedestrians and cyclists are unimportant and do not deserve equal protection or consideration. This is why there is a blanket disregard for crosswalk signals; someone didn't care. Even as the light cucles, the EB left thrn lanes get a green arrow, and all traffic on the crosswalk has stopped, and the walk signal still does not change. Many pedestrians are there for the major bus stop found there. These buses run on fixed schedules, and most pedestrians do not feel like standing on the side of the road for two minutes being treated as third-class citizens for not driving a car.
