A fallen City-owned Tree Limb on the side of Birch Street just south of W. Franklin St. Please remove it on your rounds this week with the mighty mighty jaws of your tree removal truck's robotic arm.
  • 613 North Lombardy Street Richmond, Virginia - The Fan
Northbound Lombardy at West Broad Street
The Northbound lane heading into the intersection will soon be wide enough to designate a dedicated right turn lane, once the construction project at the Verizon building concludes and the fenced-off private parking area is removed from the public right-of-way.
This is already utilized in the southbound lane; adding this in the northbound lane would greatly facilitate efficient and (most importantly) more-predictable traffic movement at a dangerous intersection.
Prior to the construction project, northbound traffic sometimes did this by instinct, but not always.
  • 499 Stuart Circle Richmond, Virginia - The Fan
    Northbound Lombardy at Stuart Circle
The Northbound lane heading into the circle is wide enough to designate a dedicated right turn lane, and the circle itself is broad enough to designate a dedicated left turn lane around the monument.
Both of these are already utilized in the southbound lane; adding these in the northbound lane would greatly facilitate efficient traffic movement.
Northbound traffic sometimes does one or both of these by instinct, but not always.

on Birch Street, between W. Franklin and the alley
Large tree limb fell Saturday night, blocking the sidewalk and part of Birch Street. Partially attached at the trunk.

There is an abandoned scooter chained to a lightpost. No one I have talked to remembers when it was first left there, but the official sticker on the front indicates an expiration of September 2014.

The two items were left in the back alley, leaning against a recycling dumpster. Deposit was made at night by unknown persons not believed to be associated with the property.

I know that alleys are a lower priority than roadways, but the alleys in and around Bellevue are really starting to go back to nature here. The sections I frequent are north of Westminster in the 1200 block, and west of Brook Road, 4400 & 4500 block. Those sections regularly wreak havoc on my vehicle's suspension, and other portions of alley I have traveled in the neighborhood have appeared to be in similar shape.

There was a re-grading project in the area a couple years ago, but any work done has not lasted very long. And every time heavy trash, recycling, and utility trucks come through there (especially after a rain when the ground is muddy), it gets worse and worse.

I strongly urge the city's public works department to go ahead and schedule maintenance to the alleys in our neighborhood; the longer that they wait, the more work it will take to restore the alleys to decent shape.

I would also encourage my neighbors to contribute supporting comments and pictures from their own personal favorite pothole spots.

Please schedule a pickup for lightweight construction debris, located along the alley. Thanks!

The SE corner of Birch and Franklin Streets accumulates stormwater every time it rains or snows, without a proper channel for it to drain away. The low point is an unfilled scar in the edge of birch street right at the base of the crosswalk curb cut.

This has been reported and ignored multiple times.

When it rains this weekend, the large puddle will be visible on international television frequently, racers pass the spot.

Inadequate concrete pouring at the gutter end of a pedestrian cutout at SE corner of birch and franklin has contributed to multiple complaints of difficulties in using wheeled accessibility devices. Road grading and storm drain placement is already inadequate for proper drainage at that corner, and this hole has made the issue worse. Please fix; it's the right thing to do.
  • Gigantic potholes Acknowledged
1108 West Franklin Street Richmond, Virginia - The Fan
Looks like a war zone in the 1100/1200 block alley between grace and franklin. Multiple potholes down the whole block, some large enough to hide a truck tire. Needs to be dealt with before someone breaks an axle. Looks like band-aid patches have been done from time to time over the years, but no real serious attention to the underlying matter.
