Across Street From 147 Bishop Street New Haven, Connecticut - Bishop-Hine

Street light out or flickering--dark and dangerous.

I reported this first on 12/8/13 (Issue ID 847348). The city acknowledged the issue and stated that it was put on its work orders as of 12/12/13. On 1/15/14 I reported again on this site that the light has not been replaced and the condition persists.

Still no change--this lack of accountability is frustrating and the dangerously dark conditions, with lots of pedestrians, car and bike traffic are a recipe for an accident or a crime.

Please fix this lamp ASAP! It's been almost four months! There is no plausible excuse!

  • Trumbull Street On Ramp To 91s New Haven, CT - Wooster Square
There is a flat bed tow truck frequently parked on the left side of the merge onto 91S, when entering the highway on the Trumbull Street ramp. It obscures the view of traffic approaching from behind as one mergers, and is parked illegally, waiting for business. It seems to be there most rush hours. Why is this permissible?

City plowed on Sunday, 2/10/13 and hasn't returned. We shoveled ourselves out and worked with our neighbors, expecting to be joined by the City, but that did not happen. The odd side of the street is narrowed by 12 to 15 feet. The even side is a cratered high boundary. The snow has frozen into ice and we don't have the heavy equipment to improve conditions. This is a dangerous betrayal of our contract with the City as taxpayers. Why are Westville streets so beautifully cleared on both sides, while east Rock is left to fend for itself? Calls to the EOC were fruitless. Mayor, please move to our neighborhood so that we receive minimal services! HELP!
  • Bishop Street Between Orange And Whitney New Haven, CT - Downtown
Street wasn't plowed at all after 2/10/13, notwithstanding calls to EOCENE. Odd side narrowed by 12-15' band of high icy snow. Even side cratered mounds and hillocks. Parking crisis as school parking lots close. Why are Westville roads plowed on both sides while East Rock received the most negligible attention? Mayor, please move to our neighborhood so that our streets will be plowed! HELP!!!!

This block received NO ATTENTION WHATSOEVER since Sunday, 2/10/13. The odd side of the street is narrowed by an icy, tall band of snow ranging from 10' to 15' in width. Very little parking is feasible. The even side of the street is a cratered mountain, with only a few parking spaces. Snow is too frozen to shovel. Parking crisis as school lots close to the public today, and major hazard for both pedestrians, and drivers desperately trying to jam cars into invented slots. Mayor DeStephano, Westville received excellent plowing attention. Please give East Rock at least minimal attention. This is just plain unacceptable.

High and wide mounds of snow at intersection with bus stops and significant pedestrian and vehicular traffic block sight lines. This is a very dangerous intersection for pedestrians, bicyclists and drivers. Snow piles must be removed for basic public safety.
