I moved down here with my husband almost seven years ago to teach. I love North Carolina but I would love to move back north to be with my family. We have a 3 year old that adores her grandparents. There is a problem though that is causing us to not be able to sell the house. Around 2 1/2 years the hill behind our house started to erode. The erosion was the result of Gandy failing to grade our yard correctly on top of not installing drains in the side of our yard. We are getting raining what from everyone that is above us. We had contacted the builder "Gandy Home" several times. (starting one month after we moved in) They gave us the run around saying they were working on getting it fixed. After being strung along for two years, they finally told us this January they were not going to fix the hill. We have pulled in landscapers and men that are certified in fixing the hill. We have been told it is 30 to 60,000 dollars worth of damage. We have contacted the county, insurance, city, builders, warranty company and they send us back in a big circle over and over. Not sure if fetching a good attorney is worth it by the time you have legal fees, court costs, etc. We have been told Gandy went bankrupt but I have seen that they have other communities open. They are a corporation so I'm thinking they could foreclose on one community but still be okay. We didn't know if it would be worth spending the money if they are foreclosed and not get anything accomplished but piling up more bills on top of ending up fixing the hill. We are lost as to what to do. We need help! There are other houses in Autumn Woods that have flood issues or eroding properties. I know someone has left their home b/c Gandy said they weren't going to fix the problem. Please help us! I don't feel safe in my house and I'm scared for my little girl to play out back. We are on a steep cliff.
