This is an ongoing problem for the residents of Oakwood Ave hill. There are no fewer than 3 local comapnies that use Oakwood Ave on a daily basis for coming into and out of the city.
I will say that the majority of the heavy trucks that use Oakwood Ave are law abiding but there are a many who are not. The trucks that have "non-seviceable" (AKA-gutted exhausts) are the problem.
They seem to enjoy making us much noise as possible as the engine brake down Oakwood Ave. over and over and over. If it was just once or twice a day it wouldn't be an issue but it is repeated almost hourly and even into the night and morning hours.
The city of Troy has noise ordinances to combat these inconsiderate companies but unless the ordinances are enforced, they are all but useless.
I've said this before and I will say it again... we need the police to come to Oakwood Ave and write tickets to the trucks that are daily breaking the noise laws.
Please don't think you can come just once with your decible meters and decide there isn't a problem. You have to come stealthily and often just like catching speeders.
If the Troy Police want to make a small fortune in fines and help the quality of life issues of a neighborhood in the proces, come to Oakwood ave and set up your decible meter. Don't do it in the open though. The truckers will just refrain from using thei jake brakes until you leave. This happened last time you came.
thanks!
We need signs like this.
