I wanted to write in to discuss my experience with a train in my neighborhood. The only descriptions that can accurately describe this train are such words as mind boggling, incomprehensible…and baffling.
I recently moved back to Charlotte after spending some time in Florida and California. I found a unique place off of Hoskins Road (Fox Ridge Loft Apartments). I love the apartment building as the people and atmosphere are more than I could ever ask for. There is one thing that has never failed to disappoint. It is the train that runs through the intersection of Hoskins Road and Rozzelles Ferry Road. If what they are doing is not illegal, it’s at the least in some strange way immoral.
The train runs at the most inopportune times, 8-9a.m and 5-6p.m. It also runs late at night which I don’t mind. Not only does the train come through when people are on their way to work, but it also exhibits some peculiar behavior. It is common for the train after moving in one direction at a very inefficient pace to just abruptly stop and turn around. It will then go in the opposite direction, at a pedestrian pace mind you, and then simply stop in the middle of the tracks. This is not in the middle of day when no one is around. This is when there is a line of cars waiting to head to and from work. It really makes no sense. You can ask anyone in the neighborhood or in the building and they will tell you about this train. I have even seen people on multiple occasions hop on the train and walk to the other side while it was moving.
Ridiculous is usually the word that residents of the area use to describe the train. I do not know if they are testing the train or what, but they really need to be considerate of the residents of the neighborhood and discontinue this egregious behavior.
I should probably reach out to the train company myself, but I would not even know where to get started. In addition, I feel as if my attempts would be futile. For that reason, I thought I would bring it to your attention, so you could figure out what the heck is going on.
Highway 16 And I-85 Charlotte, North Carolina
Panhandlers consistently hang out in the medians of this intersection. This is dangerous for them, and dangerous for motorists, particularly after dark. I saw someone almost get hit while leaving the median just last night. Is there a law against this activity? They wouldn't do it if they weren't successful, but I'm hoping Law Enforcement can keep them off, I don't want to be embroiled in some legal entanglement because I accidentally hit someone who shouldn't be there in first place.
3871 Brookshire Boulevard Charlotte, NC 28216, USA
Between N. Hoskins Road and just south of I85 on inbound Brookshire Blvd is dangerous when the road is wet and it is dark because of the black top and poor lane marking paint. Incident light from the nearby gas stations turns that road into a mirror and you cannot see the lane markings. Before you know it, you've wandered into another lane because you can't see where your lane is.
The lane marking paint needs to be upgraded and reflectors need to be installed through that intersection.
4/13/13 - still not fixed, dangerous as ever.

I know that most issues are for pedestrian & automotive situations. well as you get off I 85 south bound onto NC 16 (brookshire blvd) while in a large truck, semi, tractor trailer, what ever you wish to call us, it is impossible to make this merge without merging into the north bound flow of traffic lane, OR run our tires up onto the curb causing damage to our tires that cost us up to $500 each.
Morgan Street Charlotte, North Carolina
3-way stop signs installed by Department of Transportation but now cars park at the stop signs and on the sidewalk at this intersection. It is impossible to see if cars are coming down Morgan if you are turning because at times there are so many vehicles parked there
Intersection Of Lawton Road And Brookshire Blvd.
The railroad tracks at the intersection of Lawton Rd. and Brookshire Blvd. are absolutely horrible! They tear your struts and shocks up on your car, not to mention cause a number of flat tires weekly. No matter if you are going fast or slow..you're guaranteed to tear your car up! Please help smooth them out!

There is a vacant house that was built with no stairs leading to the front or back door. It has 'No Trespassing' signs in the windows and damage has been done to the windows. No one has lived there because there are no stairs to get in. The house is located in the 600 block of Bradford Drive diagonally across from Thomasboro School.
