Pedestrian walk signal in wrong place at Milton and Oakland Beach Ave. Archived

Oakland Beach At Milton Rd In Rye - Rye

The pedestrian walk signal at the intersection of Oakland Beach Ave and Milton Rd is on the wrong side of the intersection. Persons walking North/South have a sidewalk on only one side of the street there, yet the walk signal is on the opposite side. Going North/South there is not even a crosswalk on the side with the sidewalk. Plus, standing there, you can't see the light to be sure it's safe to cross. Very dangerous!

Yield to 3 Stop Signs? Open

Ridge St Rye, NY - Rye

Drivers coming South on Ridge have a Yield Sign at an intersection where everyone else has a Stop sign. Driver stops to "yield".. This results in confusion for everyone. The Stop Sign cars wait, the Yield car waits, then everyone goes at once. Recipe for disaster.

  Apparently the Yield sign is someone's idea of a solution to a problem that did not exist. Now it's an accident waiting to happen. They need to get rid of the yield sign and put the intersection back the way it was: North and south bound Ridge St. traffic has the right of way; north and south bound Purchase St. traffic must stop. Hope no one is injured or killed while they're trying to figure this out.

  This is quite obviously an extremely dangerous intersection given the simple fact that a CHILD DIED because of the lack of a STOP SIGN. A child who was just riding their bike. A child who thought it was safe to do so. A child, like any other, who thought they were being looked after in their own neighborhood. A child who depended on the adults in his community to make sure that the roads were routed safely. Does the cost of installing a stop sign outweigh the life of a child? How many children need to be STRUCK DEAD at this intersection before the people in power PUT ONE IN? How many? 3? 5? 10? You tell me because this situation has been DEBATED way too long.......How many years will you be in the DECISION process? 5? 8? 10? At this point, I can only assume that a Stop Sign has not been installed yet because of other nefarious reasons that probably have nothing to do with this situation at all. Because putting one in has always been the right thing to do and there is NO REASONABLE excuse NOT TO DO SO. NONE!

The County's sign of 95 North is blocked by tree limbs, drivers can't see it Open

Driving on Midland Ave. north past USAAlliance Credit Union on the right, tree limbs have leaves blocking the important view of the sign 95 North. I'm unsure if the trees are the responsibility of the credit union or the County?

The county's sign that alerts drivers to 95 North is blocked, again. Open

585-725 Peck Ave Rye, NY 10580, USA - Rye

Two years ago, I called the County to fix it, they did. Now the tree limbs need attention again to allow this important sign to let drivers know to turn left at the traffic light, which leads them onto Peck Ave. to go to 95 North. It'd be smart IF they just removed the limbs that cause the overgrown leaves to block this needed view of the sign so they don't have this recurring annoyance every two years.
