Noise violation from Starr Events catering venue Open

This happens with every event they hold here. Inadequate soundproofing (actually, I'm guessing none) combined with an over-amped emcee and music levels more appropriate for the Trocadero create noise violations far beyond anything reasonable. I could stand directly outside Woody's or Voyeur (or the Troc, for that matter, and not be exposed to the decibel levels I am from this place when I'm across the street 10 floors up with my windows closed. I can hear it throbbing over my own TV! Will the police do anything? Well, this happens every week and they haven't yet. Noise violations, illegally parked vehicles blocking emergency access to other buildings, rude and threatening employees... What a fine neighbor Stephen Starr businesses make!

I feel that as residents of the Imperial, Arts condo and, especially the three owners of the private houses that are constantly affected by this appeal to Wash West Civic Association as well as Brian Sims, Michael Nutter, Frank DeCicco etc. I do NOT want to move but this is the forgotten section of center city that conveniently allows a LOT of illegal activity to occur with no regard. Thank you for posting this! It is at least the third complaint on this site regarding this issue. I first reported this issue over a year ago with the title "arts condo ballroom causes nothing but trouble". Maybe Starr can give us all gift cards monthly to compensate?? I worked for that Starr organization for over 10 years and this is nothing to him. I called 911 3 times today regarding that truck blocking Juniper and nothing was done. Good luck to all the people who will burn to death when fire engines can get down the street. All because Stephen Starr caters and he can afford the measly $75 ticket, if given at all.

Illegally parked vehicles COMPLETELY blocking Juniper Street Open

247 S. Juniper St. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - City Center East

Another Saturday night, another night that Stephen Starr catering is entirely blocking Juniper St. with illegally parked vehicles. Right now there is a white Starr Events truck, a white van, and a metallic beige SUV with a horse trailer hitched to it all parked completely blocking the street. IF THERE WAS AN EMERGENCY, RESCUE VEHICLES COULD NOT REACH OUR BUILDING! I called the police at 6:00 PM then again at 8:00 PM, and still nobody has showed up to ticket/tow them.
This is a recurring problem. Starr Events continually blocks all street access to our building. Ambulances and fire trucks could not reach us. Residents cannot get to our building with their vehicles to move in or out, Taxis cannot drop people off at the door late at night for their safety.
If anybody dares to complain to them directly the Starr employees either completely ignore them, are frequently rude and yell at them, and I have even heard them threaten people with physical violence.
And on top of all that there is no soundproofing of the venue, so every time they have an event music and their obnoxious announce/DJ can be heard even across the street on the tenth floor with the windows closed.
This has to stop!

Blocking access to the privately owned 1300 block of Latimer and also, any emergency vehicles that need to reach 247 S. Juniper which is a 10 story apartment building. Why will nothing be done about this??

I called the police to report these illegally parked vehicles blocking emergency access to 247 S. Juniper St. and Latimer St. over two hours ago. So far, no authority has come to ticket them.
Also, there is a sign at the front of Latimer clearly stating there is no parking in that street and it is a tow zone.
Yet, when authorities do finally show up, the vehicles are only ticketed 50% or less of the time, and no vehicle is ever towed. Most of the time, the authorities are actually apologetic to the owners of the illegally parked vehicles (Starr Events and their vendors and clients) and ask them to move. So they back out, the cop leaves, and the vehicle that was illegally parked drives around the block and illegally parks right where it was before.
1324 Locust St., The Arts Condo, where this nuisance business is located, has a loading zone designated on Locust that runs the entire length of the front of their building. THAT is where Starr Events should be parking and unloading instead of illegally parking in the middle of Juniper and blocking street access to 247 S Juniper St. and the 1300 block of Latimer St.

What the @#$%!?
I just spend an hour on Kelly drive, on a Friday evening between 7 and 8 PM. Turns out lanes are closed at Logan Square (and West River Drive).
I want to know what fucktard is signing off on such an organization of whatever event. I suggest to save some precious city budget on that salary.
Speaking of the budget, don't have the cops better things to do as well?
Then, there's the environment. How many diesel trucks can you idle for how long to match the waste during those hours of cars all along Kelly Drive (and 76 as well) sitting there unnecessarily?
What's the time worth that drivers waste there?
I had a long day - week - and the last thing I need is this crap.
Today and yesterday it apparently was some run, but of course there are the boat races and whatever else. None of this can have any business blocking @#$% rush-hour traffic.
If those events can't be sceduled between 10 AM and 3 PM, Philadelphia just can't afford them.

Stop. This. Now.

FYI- a Diesel engines idling efficiency dwarfs that of you IC vehicle. , Drive a different way if this way was blocked , check out the news or turn on a radio.

Abandoned House Falling Apart for 2 years Open

Sorry - the presumed address is 1024 S Dorrance St. as it is next to the vacant lot and... going south, 1026 S. Dorrance St. I say presumed because there is no listing on the OPA/BRT site for this address - so it is off their radar. I contacted SOSNA and hopefully we can get an answer. The Dorrance Construction address is no help - those vacant lots at the end of the rows of larger homes belonged to them...as did the shell at the foot of Dorrance on Carpenter. No one knows where the principles of the company are and when last seen Vitaly denied ownership of the lots.

Dumping in Tree Pits All Over Wash West Open

Someone has been dumping VERY LARGE rocks (head-sized and larger) into tree pits up and down Juniper, down Cypress, on Pine (just west of Juniper) and on Lombard (just east of Juniper). They're too large for one person to clean up...can the city remove them?

Bike lanes are an unenforced joke Open

I want more oversight in where bike lanes are placed in my area. I own a home on a side of the street where they placed a bike lane with out even asking. I don't think the bike coalition should have the final say about placement of bike lanes. To think that I should not be able to stop and unload stuff out of my car is just absurb. Majority of bikers in this city think the vehicle code does not apply to them.

the bike lanes are DESIGNATED as loading zones and parking lanes for churchgoers. nothing is going unenforced here (except the cabs, which is a whole 'nuther thing.) i bike those lanes every day and thank god for them, even if i have to share them.

Funeral home habitually blocking left lane of westbound Spring Garden street Open

While the reason for the traffic tie-ups are individually tragic, they are a collective nuisance, particularly during rush hour.
Now, I notice these events are also wasting additional City assets - supposedly in short supply - because this morning a COP shielded the left lane for the cars of attendants for a service.
This needs to stop. If the home can't manage their events to at least avoid peak traffic hours (weekends, too) they should not be allowed to operate there.
The city needs to stop wasting police time with this.
