I don't believe speeding is truly the issue. I know I go the posted speed limit of 25 mph, and I stop for all pedestrians. However, there is a serious problem of pedestrians and bikers not using the cross walks, or (even worse) the young kids don't even look before they cross! This is what truly needs to be addressed. I have had middle-aged men and women cross without looking without being on a cross walk, young children on skateboards in the parking lot of Paperback Cafe suddenly cut in front of my car. There will be accidents unfortunately, but the pedestrians in Saybrook are more to blame. Of course, you posted this during the summer. So it makes more sense during the tourist months
Why does it seem that those who are often exceeding posted speed limits on Main St./College St. are driving expensive cars? A sense of entitlement? I can't wait for the summer people from NY to arrive in numbers to run us over. Let's issue more tickets to slow them all down. and put down their cell phones.
