Fort Eustis Blvd Newport News, VA 23608, USA
Why was the speed limit reduced on Ft. Eustis Blvd? Yes, I am aware that someone had an accident when they fell asleep a few weeks ago and crashed through the barricade and fell to their death in the reservoir. It's unfortunate and sad. However, making this long isolated road that is nowhere near any residential or school areas have a lower speed limit is pointless. If you fall asleep at the wheel and drift off the road in this location, your going to go through the barricades no matter how fast or slow you are going. This is equivalent to reducing the speed limit in an area because there are lots of DUI drivers caught in the area. A DUI driver is already breaking the law to begin with by driving, so why would they bother to follow a speed limit? What happened here a few weeks ago was a genuine accident. Return the speed limit to 45Mph and stop it with these silly "Feel Good" political actions that accomplish nothing. Or maybe the police wanted a new speedtrap area and the accident was the perfect excuse to drop the speed limit? If you seriously want to do something to prevent people from falling off the bridge to their death, then arrange to have a more substantial solid concrete barrier installed, instead of the small metal and pipe style one. Thank you!
Interstate 64 Newport News, VA 23608, USA
Pavement on both sides of I-64 over Industrial Park bridge is uneven--vehicles could lose traction crossing this bridge because the pavement at the bridge joints creates a large bump (similar to a speed bump).
Corner Of 28th St & Jefferson Ave Newport News, VA
People are still going straight in the right turn only lane at this corner. Leading to 28th street bridge, there has been new signs & arrows painted on the turning lane, it's time for tickets to be written before some body causes an accident.
38th St Newport News, VA
The lighting in the parking lot here is in need of repair as the lot is currently very dark and poorly lit. The parking under the bridge is also an issue as there is none to be found. This poses a safety risk to anyone parking in this area for potential mugging or worse
Mercury Blvd Newport News, VA
Timing of lights both at River Road and on the West end of the JRB in IOW (Eagle Harbor), need to be adjusted during rush hours, both Morning and Evening, to allow for a smoother flow over and across the bridge. there is no reason traffic should be backing up on to the bridge just becasue the secondary road traffic lights activate due to one or two cars pulling up...the majority of the traffic is on Mecury/JRB, so allow it to flow smoothly...yes i understand the shipyard traffic has priority when they get off of work, but....
