One of the two left turn signals (green arrow traffic lights) for left turning traffic from NB Harrison into WB Service (MSU printing services/former surplus store) is placed in such a way that it is pointing towards WB traffic on Service Rd. WB traffic on Service Rd sees this left turn green arrow, which creates a very confusing and dangerous situation, since NB traffic on Harrison has a green light as well.

The signal cover is unlatched and often facing in wrong direction, depending on the wind

Installing a "countdown" crosswalk indicator could be helpful. Approaching the crosswalk, you don't know how long it has been flashing - it changes from the "walk" icon to the "don't walk" hand in 5 seconds. I barely make it 3 steps into the intersection, and that is not long enough. This crosswalk serves too many people with too much traffic to "guess."

The orange "Do-Not-Walk" signal light on the pedestrian light on the south east corner of the intersection of South Shaw Lane and Farm Lane is not functioning. The Walk signal light works.

Northbound Harrison traffic regularly blocks Service Road. Not only when there's a train crossing, but frequently after 5pm, motorists block the intersection. There's no sign, but maybe there should be.

Are the bicycle lanes going to be plowed at some point? It hasn't snowed significantly during the past 24hours and the bike lanes are still packed with ice and snow. I would ride in the bike lane if it was just fresh snow. But all the clumps of ice and packed snow that have been thrown onto the bike lanes make them unusable. Side walks are clear. But I'm not allowed to use them per MSU ordinance. That puts me in the car lane. Please plow the streets (the whole street) properly.

2011-01-19 11:59 am, N Shaw Ln WB CATA bus # 520 (route 31) makes a left turn into the cross walk and the path of two pedestrians, who have a walk signal. The pedestrians have to step back to avoid being run over by the rear wheels of the bus.
Bus drivers have to be alert to pedestrians at intersections, especially as they make turns. A turning bus is very dangerous because of the wide turns it makes.

Yesterday's storm blew over quite a few signs (orange detour signs) along Shaw and Birch road on Campus. On Birch road, one of the fallen signs partially blocks the bike path (observed on June 19, 2010, afternoon)

there are bike lanes running north and south in the street and on bike lane on the south side of wilson/east side of chestnut that "magically" appears about 50 years down the sidewalk. the lack of a consistent assignment to where the bike lanes are located (street, sidewalk, both...???) creates confusion for cyclists and creates a potentially hazardous environment for cyclists, pedestrians, and motorists.
