Issues: noise complaint
40-42 Chaloner St. Fall River, MA - Fall River
Absentee landlord, tenants have no consideration for the property or neighbors. Broken windows, trash and furniture everywhere, pit bull roaming free, late night noise and activity, gunfire last new years eve, rats in the garbage. Multiple violations and citations with no results. It's a pig sty. The least desirable people come to this neighborhood now. Used to be nice here.
Farren Avenue New Haven Ct 06513 - East Haven
From 10am in the morning until 11:30pm all you here all day is these Dirt Bikes riding back and fourth up the same street all day long doing willies and stopping in front of people's house skidding on the bikes. Isn't there some type of noise level where they should not be riding these bikes all day and I thought that Dirt Bikes where not legal to ride on the streets
Nyman Cres Red Deer, AB - Red Deer
The Bar that is attached to the Quality Inn! The music is so loud that we cannot sleep and nor can my step son. No where can I find the regulations for noise control. The bass is so loud that it is vibrating our windows. If one should break who will pay for that? This is ridiculous! There is residential housing right behind the building over the grassed area and it is absolutely disgusting that our self’s and our neighbors have to put up with it!

Lockwood And Williams Oxnard, CA - Oxnard
I have written to the City of Oxnard about this pothole. I am infuriated the length of time this pothole has existed. At least 6 years, with temporary fixes that last no longer than a month. This pothole WILL damage your car, its alignment, coolant and oil lines. I am noticing a small leak in my coolant line that may have been the cause of a cylinder head gasket blowing back in Oct 2010 due to a damaged transcooler line. I am willing to assist and participate in filing a class action suit against the City of Oxnard for damages.
150-174 Homestead Ave Hartford, CT 06112, USA - Upper Albany
Right in front of building 168 Homestead Ave there is a large pothole approximately 4 feet across.
During rush hour, when large delivery trucks, or standard pickup trucks pass, it creates a large booming noise. This noise is so loud it is startling. It sounds exactly like a car accident. I've looked out my window several times expecting to see a fender bender. Although I know to expect this noise multiple times daily, it still makes me jump whenever I hear large vehicles pass over the pothole. And I'm certain their has been some vehicle damage to some of the commuter cars that pass through daily from West Hartford to Downtown Hartford.
I am not able to send audio of my recording through this app. But I can send it directly to an email if provided with one.
This pothole has been repaired previously. But apparently the repair work was inadequate, thus required re-patching.
It is noisy enough with the sound of the commuters on a daily basis, but when you add on the booming of the pothole it's frustrating. PLEASE DO SOMETHING.
I am also forwarding a copy of this email to the transportation department, and to the mayor's office.
I would appreciate and assistance you can provide in this matter.
400 Argyle Rd Brooklyn, NY - City Council District 40
There are group of guys who loiter on Argyle outside the Salahi deli. They start in the evening and are there until the early morning. They drink, smoke pot, yell, fight, and urinate on the adjacent properties. They hit people up for money in a threatening manner, and leave their litter and bottles in and around parked cars, on the sidewalk, etc. And, their noise disturbs the people in the building above them.

The State St. Bridge, over the Mill River, is now going on two years past its completion date. The city engineering department claimed that they would start working on a plan, in December 2011, to solve the water pollution issue, which has delayed the bridge reconstruction. Any progress on that plan?
Because State St. is closed, and Trumbull St. is now only one way, heading West, Willow St. has become a traffic nightmare and a public safety issue.
On Tuesday evening, because of the city's poor planning, the usual evening traffic jam, on Willow St. caused a major public safety issue, when two New Haven police cars, heading West (on Willow), and two New Haven Fire trucks, heading East (also on Willow), were stuck for at least five minutes, while car commuters totally blocked both lanes, preventing anyone from moving. Willow St. cannot handle thousands of cars per day. The noise pollution, air pollution, speeding, traffic jams and blocking emergency vehicles needs to stop.
The city needs to get its @ss in gear and fix the State St. Bridge.
180 States St San Francisco, CA 94114 - Castro-Upper Market
States Street is one of the longest streets in San Francisco. At is midpoint it has a crosswalk that serves the Playground and access to the Randall Museum. Cars speed up and down States street as they use it as a shortcut between the Castro and the Haight. The crosswalk is at a blind corner and drivers can not see pedestrians waiting to cross. There were speed bumps in the 1960s but they were removed because of the noise. More modern speed humps or other traffic calming needs to be considered before a pedestrian is hit.

we have ATV's speeding throughout the neighborhood, often late at night. It is a huge disturbance, and illegal, in this otherwise quiet neighborhood.
1 Main St Catskill, NY 12414, USA - Catskill
I keep hearing a gun shot sound from across the river. It goes off almost every minute and can be heard from the RVP Bridge to the Point on the Catskill side. Does anyone know what this noise is? It is freaking out my dog, so much that I can't even walk him in Catskill. I has been going on for at least a week now.

Both parents and children behaving in an anti social manner, yelling, screaming, talking loudly wanting to be heard creating all sorts of noise issues inluding car repairs, horn blowing and nusiance dog barking to annoy and invade my home everyday.
Lafayette St At Broome NYC, NY - Little Italy
Usual Friday eve, traffic gridlocked here, but now it blocks an ambulance with lights flashing and siren blaring. No one moves. Meanwhile the tunnel-bound cars block the intersection, in the middle of Manhattan, a mile or so away. They HONK forever, and make screechingly bad noise heard blocks around, with impunity for the $350 no honking signs two blocks away in either direction. Where are any police?
Addison Place Richfield Village Apartments, Clifton, NJ 07012, USA - Clifton
Doesn't the City of Clifton have a noise ordinance? Every Wednesday, the landscapers that cut the lawns at the Richfield Village Complex begin cutting and trimming lawn at 7AM? This is every single Wednesday at the same time.

This summer has seen a drastic rise in numbers and sound volume of street preachers at Yonge and Dundas square. Every weekend without fail they descend on the high traffic intersection with an arsenal of extremely loud megaphones casting warnings of fire and brimstone that can be heard from a far. They sometimes block the road or sidewalk and distract drivers while harassing tourists and locals alike. I understand that free speech is important to any democracy and people should have the right to preach their beliefs in a public forum, however they do not have the right to use electronic sound amplifications that drown out any opposing views and risk damaging people's ears. The noise by-law specifically prohibits using these megaphones but the Toronto police seem hesitant to enforce this by-law.
Between 3969 Washington Street And 3977 Washington Street Boston, MA 02131, USA - Roslindale
Every time a large truck goes over the pothole (between 3969 Washington Street and 3977 Washington Street turning into Colgate Road) the street makes a loud booming noise and the houses shake, we're worried its damaging the house's foundation.
643 W. 172nd St. New York, NY - City Council District 10
New York is drenched in unnecessary honking, but in Washington Heights the problem is simply unbearable. Since the neighborhood is served by very few yellow cabs, hundreds of gypsy cabs ply the streets and honk whenever they see someone standing on the sidewalk to get their attention. This is a poor business practice and a non-stop, round-the-clock source of noise that seems to penetrate into every apartment in the neighborhood.
Aside from gypsy cabs, many motorists in the neighborhood are in the habit of pulling up outside someone's apartment and using their car horn as a doorbell. This is gratuitous and very unfair. There is no need to announce your arrival to every single person on the street and bludgeon their ears with your car horn. Traffic citations should be issued for this practice.
The third vector of the honking plague is simply motorist anger, aggression, and impatience. Hesitating for more than a nanosecond at a green light, attempting to change lanes, double parking for 2 seconds to drop someone off, etc., etc., are all occasion for you, and everyone within earshot, to endure a vicious aural assault. This of course happens throughout the city, but in a honking hotspot like Washington Heights, it really adds insult to injury.
Excessive noise is more than a nuisance, particularly when it drifts in through windows and walls into your home. It has been associated with increased blood pressure, difficulty focusing on and completing tasks, and a sense of hopelessness. To say nothing of its effect on sleep. According to the NY Times, the city has anti honking ordinance, but it is not enforced:
In tonier neighborhoods, there are signs warning of fines for unlawful honking. I'm not implying that these signs are actually observed, but at least they have some sort of calming effect in nice neighborhoods. But in poor areas like Washington Heights, already under stress from a host of other social problems, unmitigated honking has reached an absolutely intolerable level.
Cynics will scoff at any serious effort to curb honking in NY City. Others will even embrace honking as an indelible part of NY's distinctive urban fabric. I disagree. I think honking can and should be muzzled. I consider it a public health issue, not merely a quality of life issue. If you agree that a campaign should be waged against honking, vote for this issue on SCF.
Speaking more generally, if NY City wants to take itself seriously as a pedestrian and transit-oriented town, instead of continuing to kowtow to the automobile, then motorists need to know that if they're driving through the city they need to treat it with respect (this also applies to the reckless speeding and maneuvering that is pandemic in NYC).

Homeowner states that when trucks go over the road the trucks bottom out and make lots of noise.
1830 New Bern Ave. Raleigh, NC - East Raleigh
I pulled into the Valero gas station and found a white van labeled New Millenium Blues of something like that set up with a mixing board, tent, and two 5-6' tall speakers just pumping music loud as @#$% out indiscriminately into the neighborhood. I saw a cop on New Bern drive right by it while there.
I called in a noise complaint and asked to speak to the responding officer because I know they won't do jack unless you force them to call you and acknowledge the complaint. He called me, and I got "How can I help you?" How do you think you can help me?! I had to preach to him rules about amplified noise permits, disturbing the repose of a neighborhood, etc., etc. I am sick of this. Why the heck do citizens have to beg and plead with our police, whom we pay with our tax dollars, to enforce laws that protect the quality of our neighborhoods and that are clearly outlined in the ordinances? I hope the City Council starts to take note at all the people complaining about noise and litter and speeding and all the "small" things that they are fed up with seeing overlooked. Officers never take a stand on noise complaints. They never act as a witness to the excessive behavior because it's easier to ignore it. We're tired of it.

We live in Fairhaven, one of the city's most attractive neighborhoods. But weekend after weekend, the beauty of the place is ruined by motorbikes, roaring up and down Front St and Quinnipiac Avenue destroying the atmosphere. They create a serious traffic danger. Can nothing be done to curtail this anti-social behaviour?

Intersection Of George And Day St. New Haven, CT - West River
At any point during the day, one can look upon the corner of George and Day (in front of Cecelia's Deli) and see apparent drug activity. A group of young men, who also loiter at Waverly Townhomes on Day St., are seen standing on the corner for hours at a time, making transactions to passerby's and cars that pull up to the corner. The warmer weather has only exacerbated the problem. It appears that people use the store as a front for the activity, entering the store after making a hand-off. Constant loitering is leading to litter, noise, and often times a hostile environment. It appears the operators of Cecelia's may be involved with these young men, as they are seen talking and socializing often.
