Non-stop flooding caused by the City of Meriden, when will you help us!!! For ten years I have been on a crusade to get the City of Meriden to stop flooding my home and the Golden, Frary and Morse Street intersection. You have allowed dozens of condos to be built, and even the Thomas Edison Magnet School to dump all of their rainwater down to an antiquated retention pond. This retention pond has only one egress, a culvert pipe that cannot handle the new demands you throw at it. Meriden has even hired an outside consulting firm to evaluate the problem, and this taxpayer funded study concluded with a complete agreement with my assessment. Reoccurring flooding to the order of Five (5) feet of water in my backyard has caused much damage. Lawsuits, letters, emails, meetings, pictures and even videos have not coerced Meriden to take notice. My neighbor had a heart attack while fighting the floods and had to be taken out by a boat, how much more will you ignore us?
Hanover Street Meriden, Connecticut
Right behind the Meriden Police Department there are two street lights, and a floodlight that are not working. They haven't been working for at least three months. Numerous complaints have been filed with different agencies, but still, the lights are still not working.
The situation is dangerous, especially when it is raining and foggy. It is hard to see where you are walking because of this situation, and the "vulnerable" are at risk of being assaulted and or, robbed because of the extreme darkness.
Can the city of Meriden fix their street lights? Or, is that too much to ask?
Thanks! Thanked!2-118 Sandy Ln Meriden, CT 06450, USA
We'll be getting bad flooding once all this snow melts. Sandy Lane's storm drains are completely blocked - hard-packed snow extends 10' out into the street from the curb.

im not sure if there is a drain or if it is clogged, but at the bottom of gypsy lane when it rains water runs across road and settles there.dangerous situation in my opinion.water at times is quite deep.should be looked into.

There is a brook/stream that runs from what I'm told from Harbor Brook to Broad Street. The stream is basically underground. By Twiss street it is in open air. Two PLUS years ago we reported to the city that Bicycles/.Lawn Chairs etc were preventing the FLOW of water. They replied they are too busy with emergencies to come out. Repeated calls had one person show up (two years ago) and he stated he has been sitting behind his desk for six months. I used my truck, Chain, Muscle and whatever and cleaned out the stream as far as I could. This stream backup causes house basements and Road to flood during heavy rain All the time. Because of this the road has deterioated under the pavement thereby providing no support. This pavement issue was also relayed to the city. This will cause another emergency

I'm worry about more worst flood if very heavy rain and snow melts. I was lucky that Hurricane Irene didn't flood my finished basement.
I am not very satisfied with the City order to have sump pump pipe drain up to 15 feet from my house. The snow blocked it cause the water flow back into my pump and flooded the finished basement. I had to pay $945 to dry up. The sump pump is the largest size.
I need someone come and see what they suggest me to do before fall and winter comes. I don't want the drain blocked.

The concrete curb were cracked and falling apart. Our car kept bumped up when going up onto our driveway. Flooded between #19 and #25 and in front of #19 driveway. Need good flood control otherwise mailman won't deliver mails.

Clogged storm drains caused flooding in at least 3 Fairway Drive homes. It took the city 6 hours to pump out the water & leaves. I believe the city is responsible for not properly maintaining the drains. The city should pay for the flood damage to our homes.
