Especially from 9:00pm-3:00am, there is music blaring from one car after another that stop at the first two houses on the even side of the block. In the corner house, people do drugs on the front porch at night and brag that the authorities won't show. So they are not afraid of being caught. The fact that they are talking loud enough to be overheard shows how obnoxiously loud they are. There is also constant profanity from the cars blaring music that is overheard by the many children in the neighborhood - especially the little ones that they keep out on the street with them at these late hours.

The three houses at 204-206, 208-210, and 212-214 have crowds of people very loud and active most nights from around 8pm to 2am. Two of the houses also have basketball hoops in front and that contributes to the noise, crowds, and rowdiness.

I drove thru the intersection of Atwater St & Chatham St today a little 4pm and there was a large group of kids (over 20) playing basketball and on bikes playing in the middle of the intersection. They were holding up traffic and not getting out of the way of moving cars.
This street is used as a race track by some drivers and at some point one of these kids is going to get hit by a car. When is LCI going to take the hoop away? These Kids dont need to play in the street when a park is one block away.

There are two adjacent properties that were recently demolished on the west side of Downing between Lombard and Peck. As of today the demo waste has not been cleaned up. What's left is piles of bricks, plaster, and various debris.
Yesterday I saw four young kids playing here. The site is completely unsecured. This is extremely hazardous due to the risk of injury or exposure to toxic substances.
These sites need to be secured immediately. And I certainly hope that the owners are planning to clean them up and not leave them in their current state.

Please be cautious when in the park, it is not safe. Even for the families who like in the Housing Apartments. There has been incidents where parents have allowed there children to be at the field to play and older youth have harrassed them. There is also men just hanging around and many children are there playing unattended and with no adult supervision. Please be cautious with them. They play in the back driveway of the school and it is not safe. Parents if your children are there playing sports please be there with them because we could never be to safe. We have alot of older youth who play in the basketball court and may bully younger youth. There is not enough police supervison in this area nor enough security supervision in the housing apartments. There are many drugs being distributed in the corner store on clinton avenue across from the baseball field. Many walk back and forth from in the field and our children are mainly the ones in danger. Anyone may offer drugs to them or they may even find it on the ground. PLEASE BE CAUTIOUS AND COME TOGETHER AS A COMMUNITY TO STOP THE DANGERS IN OUR COMMUNITY. Like they say it take a whole village to raise a child. So as a village please help other parent or families be aware of the danger there children may be in if they are not supervised.

Every day we have cars and motorcycles going about 50 miles an hour up Clinton Ave., a residential street with many children, pets, and elderly residents. Prime time to catch these offenders would be 5-8 p.m.

Cars continually come at all hours of the day and night honking their horns. They are using their horns as door bells to get the friends and family to come out to their car. Even either picking up people or calling them over to their car with their horn to chat with them.
Officer C. Colon of the New Haven police department feels that this is just “ordinary city life” and “(we) Just need to live with it.”. Some people in the community believe that it is okay to honk as much as wanted and does not understand how it can bother anyone.
Well I happen to sleep at different times and these horns being used as door bells wake me up. It is no one’s right to tell me when I should be sleeping or awake, nor is it anyone’s right to make excessive noise and to breech my peaceful environment.
I am asking that the New Haven Police department acknowledge this as an issue. I understand that CT does not have any ordnances on horn honking, but there is a “Breach Of Peace” law and I believe the police should utilize this law to enforce unnecessary honking in New Haven.
Additionally our state legislators should create a law to protect citizens against unnecessary honking and to provide an infraction for unnecessary honking, enforceable by police.
