I am very happy to report that the MTA has reinstated the original route of the BX1 bus. Amen :)
Hello Eileen, I hadn't realized the implication of no local BX 1 where you live. That is outrageous. I live near the Sedgwick and Dickinson Ave. stop and at least can still catch the Bx 10 to Broadway and 231 St. I have contacted Councilman Koppell about this service loss, and he has not shown any interest in the problem.
Thanks, Lora. Well if Mr. Koppell had to carry his parcels up the step streets or get off at a limited stop, in inclement weather to walk several blocks to his usual stop, I think then he might be interested. We have a large population of senior citizens, mothers with small babies and people with disabilites who are EXTREMELY reliant on local bus service. If anything, why don't they run the #2 bus down to 231st Street and back? Currently, it ends its route on Ft. Independence. A few more stops/blocks would make a world of difference. I do not understand this reduction in service, considering 231 St. is the 'hub' of this area. Illogical, inconvenient and inconsiderate, to say the least.
Further, to add insult to injury, when you transfer from a Ltd. 1 bus to the #2 local service, at Ft. Indpendence, the meter charges you another fare. <ugh>
We need local bus service during the day from B'Way and 231st up to Sedgwick Ave. Why can't the #2 go to/from Broadway? It would be as simple as that, to fix this inconvenience.
I will be starting a petition to have this corrected. Enough.
The MTA finally put on their thinking cap and came to the conclusion they had made
Service has been restored to the original Bronx #1 bus line.
Thanks for all your help.
This thing is a crater. At least 2'Lx2'Wx2'D
