Description

NETTS (New England Tractor Trailer School) - While the school is located in Somers, CT, they are constantly conducting their drivers training here in Enfield. They drive in a "square" formation between Phoenix Ave, Rosario T Vella Rd, Freshwater Blvd, and Niblick Rd. They very often interfere with traffic and I have to believe that driving these large rigs repeatedly over these roads must cause road deterioration. Does NETTS pay any kind of tax to Enfield to cover the cost of road repairs or traffic issues?

There are Tractor Trailer Trucks down those roads constantly anyhow.

Majority are NETTS trucks if you look at the name on the rigs themselves.

I see them but seriously they can use the roads if they want to. You don't pay taxes in other towns to use their roads.

Ok but I'm just driving through the other towns, not running a business. When taxes go up in enfield because we have to pay for road repairs since they deteriorate at a faster than normal rate you may not be so understanding...

I would have to pay taxes in another town if operated a business there 7 days a week. I see few other 18 wheelers except NETTS as this route does not connect to any major highways. These guys cause traffic issue especially on the weekend when they have un-experienced drivers operating slowly - trying to make turns and making conditions unsafe in our town,

Agreed, they should operate on thier own roadways as I waited 15 minutes one Saturday morning in traffic while a NETTS truck tried backing down a road.

The Town can not prevent lawful transportation from using its road network, no matter where is originates from. I have referred this question the the Town's traffic control officer. Thank you.

When taxes go up in Enfield? They constantly go up and it's not because of a few trucks. Of course they're going slowly because they are un-experienced drivers trying to learn. Trust me they don't just come to Enfield they go in their own town too.
