Description
The traffic lights and pedestrian walk signal are new here, put in within the last few months.
However, in my personal experience, I have found it more dangerous since the lights were put in, as drivers coming up 23rd to turn left onto Blakemore seem to think they have the right of way to turn left once the light turns green, ignoring that pedestrians have a walk signal to cross Blakemore.
I have come close to being hit multiple times, as have other coworkers here at Vanderbilt.
Drivers should preferably have a left turn signal on 23rd, or at the very least have a conspicuous sign stating that they must yield to pedestrians. Otherwise, it will not be long before a driver turning left onto Blakemore from 23rd will rush through the intersection when the light turns green, and hit a pedestrian who has the right to be crossing Blakemore at the crosswalk with the walk signal.
