Description

At the corner of East Franklin Blvd & S New Hope Road in Gastonia (directly in front of BB&T), the road marker in the right hand lane (traveling east on Franklin Blvd) clearly indicates RIGHT TURN ONLY. However, many cars constantly drive straight thru the intersection, instead, onto the access road beyond the intersection. This, in turn, causes very hazardous driving conditions for those who attempt to merge into the far right hand lane after going thru that intersection. When NCDOT was contacted regarding this issue, I was advised the road marking is correct. In their explanation, I was told cars can drive straight thru because the right hand lane doesn’t end at the light. Although the road marker clearly shows a right turn signal with the word “ONLY” the right hand lane continues onto the access road beyond the light. Given this ambiguous explanation, I want to have this matter looked into further. Please see, click, fix.
