I live close to the end of Murray Hill Road Malden/Medford. So thank you for being vigilant. Also our neighbors have brought to our attention that the fire hydrant across from my house is painted all red. Murray Hill Road. That color needs to be investigated along with a fire hydrant up at the end of Murray Hill Park. Both are all red. I believe red means that it is non functioning. Very concerning. Could someone look at these at the same time they look at the sunken basin. Thanks so much.
Storm water crew investigating sunken basin. Please define the situation for the 2 fire hydrants that are now labeled as non functioning with no water pressure or supply. They are painted all red with no color on the circles to define the quality of the fire hydrant in case of a fire. Right now its a big zero.
As in our earlier investigates our department has found the hydrants in question operational. The situtation that could be an issue may lie in the transmittal lines leading to them. The friction loss may cause the translation of velocities within the mains may be a culprit of the issue maybe be within the distribution system as designed. Our efforts have pointed of efforts towards those designs and the hydraulics that drive them. We have and continue to isolate and recharge the system to learn more about the restrictions As I have discussed with other departments our investigations will turn towards gate valves . Main lines and over all system design capabilities. At the point the hydrants are operational but the velocity of water flowing through them is what we need to learn more about.
