Description

I live on the corner of Knott Street and Jeff Davis. In the last 6 weeks there have been 2 single vehicle auto accidents one of which tore down my fence and landed in my yard as well as knocking down one of the City of Macon's curved yellow caution signs. The second just occurred this past Wednesday around midnight and it cracked the City of Macon's Utility Pole almost in half. The pole with a Flashing Caution light that was installed a couple of years or so ago that the light flashes in the direction of automobiles coming from the Downtown direction. There have been close to 20 accidents in the intersections of Knott Street/Jeff Davis St/Felton Avenue/Anthony Road.. I reported in the past which resulted in the current arrow signs and the flashing yellow caution sign. These accidents don't just occur at night they sometimes happen in broad daylight. Sometime culprits are caught, sometimes they get away. The one Wednesday who destroyed City property tried to leave the scene after regaining consciousness but I was able to get outdoors contact 911 and get a tag number as well as point responding officers in right direction before driver got too far. I am asking for help in something more whether it's in the form of another flashing light directed towards the Felton Avenue/Jeff Davis Street/Anthony Road intersection... Speed bumps coming up the Anthony Road section... Something... Anything... I realize I live here... Chose to reside in this house... This corner... But regardless it's not only UNSAFE for MY OWN CHILDREN TO PLAY OUTSIDE in the yard because of the speeders ect. I constantly WORRY IN FEAR FOR ALL THOSE YOUNG KIDS (especially the Elementary age kids) who have to walk TO SCHOOL and HOME FROM SCHOOL by themselves everyday in this curve and sometimes they are in the street verses the side walk because it's so many of them at one time. It's a DEATH TRAP WAITING TO HAPPEN if something isn't done to hinder these drivers from speeding in this curve.
