Description

St Cyprians Church in Perry Township has completely destroyed a forest in the property behind their building, including multiple trees approaching 200 years of age.

Fr George Kusy, Pastor, when asked as to why the trees were being cut down repeatedly said "this is my land, I don't have to to tell you. I don't have to tell you anything" to residents who live adjacent to the church. The reason is evident, many of these trees are cherry wood, which is very valuable. However, the church is not in any sort of financial struggle right now as they recently built the Pastor a brand new home on the property. (and it isn't small.)

When contacted for information by multiple individuals, the pastor refuses to return phone calls, and went as far as to order his secretary to hang up on a caller this afternoon after he pointed out that it was evident that the pastor was giving answers to the secretary in the same room during the phone call. Repeated return phone calls were not answered....messages....... not returned.

The complete devastation of this beautiful forest is not only an eyesore, but its a sore on the entire community of Perry Township. These trees have been around perhaps longer than Perry itself, yet a pastor who is not even from Lake County decided it was time to cut them down in and cash the checks.

Conveniently, there was no work being done in regards to tree removal today, as many parishoners attended the church for Ash Wednesday services. Certainly the pastor, ashamed of himself, wouldn't want his people to witness the atrocity he has ordered a group of Amish treecutters to commit.

Previous pastor, Fr James J Patton, current Pastor Emeritus loved the forest behind his home and the church. He told neighbors to feel free to take out any dead trees to use as firewood, but never, never ever touch a live tree. He cared about that forest more than anyone else, but the new Father has decided that there's no reason to respect tradition, he has decided there is no reason to honor nature, and he has decided that there is no reason not to cash in whenever possible.

It appears that for this Lenten season, Fr George Kusy, Pastor, has decided he has the ability to go without oxygen for the entirety........so trees aren't necessary.
