Trisha have you talked to anyone on council about this? If you can get a councillor to look into the issue it might lead to some results. Sometimes you just need to get the ball rolling...

The big problem is that many of these run down and boarded up houses are owned by the same people. They simply hold on to them until someone is desperate enough to rent them and the plywood comes off and you get to move in. Then they wonder why P.A. is called the slumlord capital.

Not sure what jobs have to do with boarded up houses, but there are help wanted signs up every where. Problem is welfare pays too good so for many it is easier to sit at home and collect a free pay.

Yes it does in my books. People sometimes can't afford to fix up their homes

Have you people ever thought that just maybe the one with a house fire is waiting to hear from insurance? If your so concerned talk to the owner herself before you judge.

Many of the dilapidated houses in this city are rentals. If you want rentals, be prepared to maintain them. Yes there will be wear and tear and yes unfortunately their will be will damage and vandalism, but it is all part of the game of being a landlord. Don't want to play, don't get into rentals. My property value should not decline just because you made a poor decision on who to rent to and you house got destroyed and you feel you do not need to fix it back up.

If you are a city councillor who has been outspoken about run down rentals, then you REALLY need to do something about your own.

this is a huge problem in prince albert....there is a house on the 400 blk of 7th street east that burnt over a year and a half ago...just sits there..boarded up...this has nothing to do with jobs and has everything to do with city council and bylaw enforcement...bylaw cant do anything if city council doesnt give them an authority. there has been this topic brought up in city hall many times but no one in that building can make a decision...it just gets sent to a department for a "report" and nothing ever happens...
this would never happen in other cities that dont cater to slum lords and places that want to keep their city clean....the city of pa has to stand up for itself and say "this is not going to happen here...these are the standards we require to own property in our city"
unfortunately if we were to enforce unsightly property 2 city councillors would be close to the top of the list...nothing like setting a good example

Are you people kidding me? That fire happened LITERALLY less than a month ago!!!!! Of course she will fix it. IT TAKES TIME. The police investigation isn't done yet! Did you even stop to think about that before slandering her? Did you even stop to think, oh yeah, maybe they should try to find the people before they tear the house down/fix the house/do whatever she will do with the house? Jeez Trisha, maybe you should take a minute to think about what your saying before you get yourself into trouble.

From what I can remember that house has siding falling off on the West side for a long time. You call that being kept up?
