Ive been waiting all day for East Rock to get plowed, but it's not (past humphrey street), They did say in the paper that it would be done on our garbage day, but because Monday was a holiday, it may be the day after. Im crossing my fingers that we'll have two lane roads tomorrow.
Don't expect much or anything from those municipal workers , a sad joke. Most have done and are doing their training out on the streets , no background checks are done on them , they possess no proper driving credentials even though there is a State law , leave it to the State to violate their rulings and special requirements .
"I can't make it down there, the street is , well I can do it , well I don't think I can , I hit many cars before , I might smash into cars , no I can do it ,I CAN DO IT because nothing will happen to me".- A snow plow guy arguing with himself.
So he proceeded and nailed cars that were within their right to park there
I agree. This is getting ridiculous. I understand New Haven had the 30 something small streets to plow before getting to other streets but wasn't this done on Monday, along with the downtown part of the city? I live in East Rock, on Orange between Bishop and Edwards. We haven't seen the odd curbside of Orange since before the first storm we had. I have been following the parking ban and only parking on the even side but even with this parking is limited. Will this part of the city get plowed, before the week long residential parking ban is lifted?
I was very disappointed to once again see our streets not plowed. I know theyre busy, and I dont want to get on their case, but so many people have been following the ban & doing what their supposed to do, and its just a shame we cant get this over with.
Scandalous. Why can't the tow people ticket, dig out and tow away the cars that are still buried, abandoned, prevent the snow removal from continuing in the announced way? That would bring some money to the city as well as clear the main arteries. Orange Street is really scary for anyone, as is much too much of New Haven.
Parking enforcement has been random, even when reported- someone is doing favors and looking the other way. please provide a record of every time this was reported and how so I can FOI all information as I am bringing this to the Board of Alders for investigation.
I obeyed the ban, like the majority of us did. I drive all over new haven because of my job. Why i am still driving on streets where theres only one lane because of the snow??? Im so disappointed.
Thank you for the post. We too would prefer neighbors to comply with parking bans, however it is unfeasible for us to ticket and tow all vehicles in violation due to limitations in staff, enforcement vehicles, tow trucks, and vehicle storage space. As a result we do our best to tow as many cars which are parked on posted snow emergency routes or areas that DPW plow teams are able to clear once we've removed the vehicles. Please be aware that you can also call (203)946-SNOW for the latest info regarding snow related parking bans. Please share with your friends and neighbors the below link to sign up for emergency notifications to be alerted to any upcoming parking bans related to snow emergencies;
