Description
I am very frustrated at the plowing methods in the city. For this side of town, the plowers come by and completely leave huge mounds of snow in the front of people's driveways. We clean the mound, and the plowers come by again and leave more mounds. But when you get to the more prestigious neighborhoods, especially the 12208 area, the plowers come and are more careful with the driveways. They do not leave any mounds there. And they are always the first to be plowed. Another concern is that there are a lot of elderly people in this area. If the ambulance is called, they will have a very difficult time, going over the mound if medical equipment and stretchers are needed. The Delaware Avenue area also pays property taxes, just like the 12208 area and it is ridiculous and completely unfair that we get treated like second class citizens when it comes to plowing and snow removal. Finally, since there are mounds and snow over several feet tall in this area and important intersections, we are requesting that the snow be removed with dump trucks. Our neighborhood has become one huge blind spot. If the city of Albany continues to treat 12209 like sub-citizens, then we should get discounted property taxes.

Under no circumstances are any areas within the City provided different services. All City streets are plowed in the same manner. We understand your concern with handicap and senior residents in your area; we have the same situation throughout the City. We will keep an eye on this area to try and prevent this from happening with future storms.
