That's an old tree.The landlord of the corner white house,for whose driveway the tree actually obstructs , has called the City dozens of times to have that tree removed. Most of the large branches overhang his property,overhang his house.
We had a bet going at one time to call which way that tree will fall,like a live cow dung drop or bingo.
Yes the contractors should be more careful , it might drop on their heads , using the tree as a stop like that , even pushing their snow onto another's property is uncalled for.Perhaps they are using a small pick-up

The City plow drivers, overall, are careful and courteous. I wish the same were true of contractors. So many contract plows pile driveway snow into street parking spaces - even handicapped spaces - or against trees or back into the street, counting on the city to clean up their mess. LCI or public works should put landlords on notice that they are responsible for their plow service.

Why has no one from Parks addressed this issue ? I guess ignore, pretend it isn't there is the policy in this administration.

The City informed the landlord of the house it abuts, That it's a very healthy tree and there's nothing wrong with it..If the landlord wanted it removed he would have to obtain a permit from the city , hire a contractor his or her self,pay in full..It sure looks healthy , Oak is one of the toughest woods around, it'll take a bit more than a little bump from a little pick-up truck to even scratch it.
You better worry about "SCOTT" over there

FYI - Looks are deceiving - the tree has a hollow core - it's simply a shell...

This tree now has a long crack with open bark. I now fear this tree will split, damaging vehicles, garage, God-forbid a limb land on a passing vehicle on heavily-traveled Edwards Street. Parks Department is on notice, please fully examine this tree in jeopardy.

The tree has been inspected and prioritized for action.

I have written to Mayor Harp...this issue is documented. Whomever has deemed this tree 'healthy' is incompetent. The limb that has fallen, and fortunately did not crush a pedestrian or vehicle, was like sawdust and marshmallow internally. This 60' tall, 3.5 Ft wide tree is infested internally with some sort of fungus and has a large hole at the base. It is in imminent danger of losing another limb, crushing, pedestrians, vehicles, and property, or , I fear, worse: falling over. Please send a certified Arborist to examine, test, and document the condition of this tree.
