This problem is located at the intersection of Orange and Pearl Streets, near a crosswalk. It is at the corner of a narrow two-way street and close to a very busy city bus and Yale Shuttle stop. The area is frequented by pedestrians, runners, walkers, skateboarders, bicyclists, babies in carriages, seniors, as well as cars and many trucks. It is near a large apartment building and opposite a dry cleaning establishment and busy cafe.
The large corner piece of separated sidewalk has been moved closer but the pieces are not equal height. Under snow, this would likely be a place where people would fall.

Hi seeclickfix team:
I don't see that this issue has been solved satisfactorily. If anyone can take some photos, that would be helpful to this issue. It looks like the huge piece of separated sidewalk at the very corner of Orange and Pearl has been turned over on the curved side. Would someone please go and look at it as it doesn't seem that this is an ultimate solution. Maybe there's no money in the budget to solve it.
I don't know how to get others to see this issus as it apparantly does not fall within the borders of the watches. Can you help with this? Let me know, please.
I have seen a car back up from Orange to Pearl in order to go in a different direction, North, on Orange. This moved the slab of stone. I think that that could happen again. Under snow and ice, i still think this could pose a problem for walkers, street crossers, people stepping off of buses, neighborhood children, perhaps bicyclists.. I would like to give this issue again to some responsible party. Perhaps some watcher in Sohu or one of the adjacent stores. I did send it last night to Dr. John Cianciolo. You would know how to deal with this. Please help. Thank you.

Roland,
Have you heard anything from DPW or engineering on this?
Also, if you are checking in would you mind pingning them about the drain in front of 908 State.
Thanks,
Ben

I'll forward to DPW and engineering, as well as the WPCA (who may have some work left to do here that could be causing the hold-up) to see if we can get this addressed ASAP. I know with the sewar separation project on Trumbull Street and the goal of getting new sidewalks along Pearl Street still being discussed, this does have a long-term fix scheduled, but in the short-term, it looks dangerous and Ruth is right to be concerned about how this will function.

No. From what I see now, the large concrete piece seems to have been moved. Maybe someone hit it while turning the corner. There's a larger yellow barrier, replacing the ones that have been broken, and there's an orange cone to indicate it's a danger, (or that it's being worked on?). I forwarded it to Roland Lemar.
Can ClickFix team, or anyone else, help? Thanks.

Hi,
As I understand, from Roland Lemar, a temporary fix has been done on this issue. It looks good to me but all the caution signs are still there. Roland said they will do the permanent repair later.
Thanks,
Ruth
Mark
