Description

The pedestrians in Painesville need to be taught that when a traffic signal is red it also applies to them. I've seen many times that someone crosses an intersection when not only the traffic signal is red but the walk/don't walk sign says "don't walk" and they cross anyway. They think they have the right of way no matter what the signals are telling them. I stopped in at the Police Station to complain about it and the officer I spoke to wouldn't answere my question. I asked him "who has the right of way, the car or the pedestrian". His answere was constantly "it all depends". Even if I am entering an intersection with a green light that has been green for some time and someone crosses the street he still responded "it all depends". Sounds like not only do the pedestrians need to be educated but even the officer that I spoke with. If the sign says "Don't Walk" and the traffic signal is red...DON'T CROSS THE STREET.
