I watched the full-sized school bus try to get through the top section of Lyon yesterday afternoon. Cars are parked on both sides of the street and the street itself is so narrow now, it had to come to a full stop to avoid hitting any of the cars.
Lyon, Jefferson and William are some of the worst I have seen. east Rock is complaining, but they should see this.
I observed the plows during the storm and would hazard to guess the snow plow plan could use revision. 3-4 DIFFERENT plows come by within 20 minutes of each other, and then, nothing for the rest of the storm.
The conditions of these three streets and Audubon St. are abysmal, and this wasn't even a big storm.

Not only that, but its icy, and nobody shovels their spots they just drive thru them, a parking ban is what we need to properly clear the street. They dont hesitate to ticket people without a pass so whats the problem with a simple plow more than ONCE!?

If there is not enough man-power to enforce a parking ban with towing, the City should still be able to dissuade people from parking by dolling out tickets during the storm to allow for better plowing.

I see it too, no one is shoveling out parking spaces like they do in other northern cities, and now it is all ice and impossible to shovel. But, people are parking anyway - in the traffic area of the street.

Making the turns onto Lyon from Bradley and onto Jefferson from Lyon should be prioritized. Jefferson is bad enough without snow during LEAP pick-up and drop-off times and cars not obeying "no parking" signs. Not plowing has made it a mess.

Jefferson is really bad. It doesn't look like it was ever even salted. Driving down it is like driving down an unusually slippery dirt road.

Bradley Street is also a terrible mess, as are many other streets in the neighborhood. With cars parked around snow mounds there is barely room for a car to get through. With the new no parking on the odd side of the streets rule, during snow storms, it only makes sense for the city to then plow the odd side of the street.

Could the City post No Parking signs for selected days/sides of street just as is done for street sweeping so that roads could be cleared neighborhood by neighborhood? This would require residents to dig out their cars and for the City to prepare a schedule that could be adhered to. Would this have to wait for more thawing because even if cleared of cars, could the plows even cut through the ice?

The snow plow came by today at 9:45. And then, it hit the last car parked on Jefferson.
Surely the City could make use revenue made from ticketing cars that are 1. Illegally parked during a parking ban 2. parked so from the curb as to obstruct traffic.
Surely this should warrant a ticket.

I am also happy to report seeing parking enforcement on William St.

I appreciate the job city workers are doing to clear the streets. However, can someone explain to me why today, 3 full days after the storm ended, a plow came down St. John again?? The street was completely passable already. Now it is even more difficult to park since the street is narrowed. When my senior citizen mother came home this afternoon she found large chunks of ice blocking the driveway so she had no option but to drive right over them. I did not see the vehicle that did this so perhaps it was a private company? Either way I think it added to the inconvenience.
