Description
Tear down the old jail and build a new Nursing Home on that property. The County already owns the property and therefore would not have to purchase the land somewhere else. The County will just waste the money on some meaningless cause anyway. I remember years ago when they were closing Huttons Nursing Home and they were transfering the residents to Conn. and Mass.. How would you like to drive to Connecticut to see your Dad for lunch?

Build it at the County Fair Grounds which has a pool, recreational facilities, county equipment garages, a fair once a year, nature abounds, a view of the mountain ridges, quick and easy access to the hospitals, plenty of parking, a higher educational nursing institution, everything including a place for a helicopter to land. And it is out in the country, away from all the mishigas. And the county legislators some of them, live in the neighborhood too.

Take a trip to Woodland Ponds in New Paltz and see if you think it is worth $35 million? That is what you get for $35 million, Woodland Ponds. Take the tour!

Buford is a "guest", just like the rest of us. What, are you xenophobic?

@samaritan: do you believe that the care, feeding and continuation of Golden Hill is not a suitable topic for this website? That its presence somehow damages this site or compromises the integrity? That such a discussion is not useful?
Reminds me a bit of the kids in school that were eager to be hall guards.
They weren't strangers, and I certainly didn't hate or fear them, but I didn't like their behavior, still don't, which I found a bit toady. Takes all kinds.

We need to take care of our own. With this being said - i believe the best for all of us is to build a new "Golden Hill" and keep the fantastic staff with them. We need to keep the jobs an families in this area. Our community will not grow. People will need to move away to look for new jobs and/or they will need to move to be with a family member that lives at Golden Hill. Golden Hill is more then just a place for our elderly to be cared for - it is there home. The people who are there for them are now apart of their family. Some it is their only family. How can anyone take that way. So....build a new one and keep it county owned. Everyone needs it!!!!!!!!

@emma: that's a welcome offer. Would you then link the blog entry to this seeclickfix topic? I'd hate to miss it.
What kind of information do you need in addition to what has passed here? We have a local paper, the Kingston Times, Ulster Press, a weekly, that writes fine articles of interest, longer, well researched, well written.
