The speed measuring device is a portable unit that measures how fast drivers are going and indicates their speed in bright lights. If drivers exceed the posted speed limit, the measurement flashes. This is often enough to help drivers be more mindful of the posted speed limit. If data indicate a chronic issue, we may also choose to take additional steps such increased emphasis patrols on portions of the road.
