Description
There seams to be no enforcement of littering in the city of Richmond. I have actually seen people throw trash on the ground in front of a police car. There is no signage at all. Community stores do not clean there lots. But yet the city says it wants to draw more business to the area. How can that be when it looks like a dump. The problem is bad and it is only going to get worse because the younger generation does not see a problem with throwing the trash on the ground. They are watching there parents do it with no regard. Once there is an enforcement of littering most people will think twice about throwing trash on the ground. Or at least know that it is wrong to do it. I do not know where the Mayor and other decision makers in this city live, But I would ask them to please come to the neighborhoods sit in a vehicle for 15 min. and watch the public in natural form. At that point they would be able to see the things that we need to improve on.

1/17/2014 - Thanks so much for your communication with Richmond City government online - this information has been formally submitted to Richmond Police (20020928863) to make them aware of littering at the vicinity of 1701 Mechanicsville Turnpike for items other than limbs, branches, and bulky junk.
Please understand that cleaning of litter from sidewalk/street area(s) surrounding a homeowner's property and business property is the primary responsibility of the adjoining property owner to maintain. Also, the City of Richmond currently works regularly with many small neighborhood groups/efforts through the Clean City Commission's Adopt A Spot Program (804-646-8325) to keep street/sidewalk areas and small neighborhood sections cleaned from litter and debris.
