Description
The law firm that the Mayor works for owns this property so the trees are allowed to hang low over the sidewalk in violation of city code, and nothing is done. This issue has been reported time and again, all to no avail. They just say, "We'll forward this to the City Manager," and ignore it.

I do not know why, or how any representative of the city could come in here and close this issue. It is not closed, and has remained open for over 10 months. I have reported it on the AskArvada site over and over again, but nothing was ever done; not even acknowledging my service requests. I even went as far as to email Mayor Marc Williams about the trees at his law office. He said he would refer it to the city manager. Whether he did or not, I do not know, but I do know that nothing was done then, either. .
This matter is not closed. All of those trees have branches that are in violation of city code by having branches that hang closer than 10 ft. from the sidewalk. This is not only unsightly, it is a hazard to pedestrians who might want to use the sidewalk including mothers with strollers, and anyone who doesn't want a faceful of branches just to use the sidewalk. This is not the only place in the city, but it is the most conspicuous because it is right by the post office, everyone sees it, and it sends the message to all that the city does not enforce its code fairly and equally.

This remains a problem, and very little, if anything, is being done to correct it. The biggest problem occurs on city-owned property, and that of city officials.
"Ask Arvada" is not a solution at all. These complaints have been reported to "Ask Arvada" over and over again with no effect.

This is the property of the mayor's business. They don't have to follow any rules except the ones they choose to follow. For example, their sidewalk is not to code, but they don't have to change it because they are "grandfathered in," even though that applies to no one else in the city.
Of course the tree branches are still hanging too low. The mayor feels he is above the law, and that the laws do not apply to him.

It is so sad because the "think" they are being righteous when all they are doing is persecuting those citizens who not fit their "mold."

The problem has neither been remediated, nor fixed. It still exists. I went by there today, and there is still the problem.
If you want to remove honest, law-abiding citizens from your forums, that's your business. It won't solve any of the problems listed here, and it won't solve any future problems either. Still, if you have the power to do so, and you want to, there is nothing I can do about that, but what would it say about the city's true conviction to citizen input?
This, and every issue I have reported are all code violations in the City of Arvada. There are many, many more that I have not reported. I seriously can walk down any street in this city and find numerous violations that need to be fixed in order to maintain the type of city people want to live in; the kind of city I expected when I moved here. These are't big things, and they aren't difficult to resolve, but, yet, people choose to vilify me for reporting them instead of either doing anything about the issues, or even "asking" other citizens to do their part to follow the intent of the code better. It seems to me that priorities are bit mixed up, and if that's the way things are, then go ahead. Remove me. I will not report another incident, and I will do absolutely nothing further to try to help this city become a clean, orderly, law-abiding city of the type honest people want to live in. I'll turn my head when I see weeds three feet tall on every corner, cars parked on the front lawn, firecrackers going off at 3:00 a.m, and people trashing city parks because, apparently, that's the way the city wants it, and prefers it; because the city chose to "censure" me for trying to do my civic duty rather than to address any issue of code violation at all.

You are wrong. There have never been any branches from my trees falling across anyone's lawn, ever. I accuse you of lying, and defy you to produce documented evidence to the contrary.
It is not a solution to an issue simply to tell the person reporting the issue to shut up, to tell him he should run for office, to tell him he should take his issue before City Council, or simply to refuse to do anything at all about it.
If nothing is going to be done, that's fine, and expected, but it is not a reason to "close" any issue. Do nothing, if that is your inclination, but leave the issue open until such time as someone decides it is worthwhile to enforce the law.

I hope there really is a "real" monitor reading, and deciding on these posts. I want someone with real authority to see how agents of the city treat their citizens who try to do their civic duty. I hope the site monitors will read the entire thread of each post to see how the city's agent chastises a law-abiding citizen for reporting a violation rather than fixing it. I want the monitors to see how an agent of the city resorts to name-calling, calling citizens "Nazis" rather than enforce the law. I want the monitors to see, and report back to people in authority how these sites are useless because they are manned with people who do not want to do anything, and who "favor" people they consider "nice." I sincerely believe that I could only get an issue attended to here if the agent of the city thought I were "nice." But, since that agent thinks I am the bad guy, he ignore my post, insults me, and closes my issues without ever doing anything in the way of a resolution.
I feel fully vindicated about my comments in regard to the city and its level of enforcement, and all the proof anyone needs to support that claim is right here in these threads. Just today, I was driving down Dover Street, and I saw at least four houses with branches hanging too low over the sidewalk; some as low as three feet from the ground, but I know the city didn't see it, and I know the city would do nothing about it if I reported it because I am not considered a "nice" person, even though I am as nice as any person you will ever meet in Arvada.
Again, I am perfectly okay with nothing being done about these issues. Many have been open, and ignored for as long as eight years. I have no expectation that they will ever be fixed, but I do not feel they should be closed, either, since they are not "fixed." Don't do anything. That's fine, But, don't close an issue, and say you fixed it when you did nothing at all. Just leave it open for the world to see.

Once a month, the site contacts me as to whether or not my issues have been closed. Almost always, I report that they have not been closed, and leave an appropriate comment.
I disagree with your suggestion that my comments are "negative." My comments are "factual," and you, yourself have proved everything I have asserted with your responses. I am only being honest.
What is a citizen supposed to say when issues stay open and unaddressed for eight years or longer? What am I supposed to say when agents of the city close an issue without even attempting to address it? What am I supposed to say when agents of the city choose to attack an honest citizen with names like "Nazi," or counter with boundless accusation when that citizen is doing no more that what is requested by this site?
I believe everything I have said about the city is factual, provable, and, most of all, quite sad. I fail to understand the city's antagonism toward me, and their choice rather to pursue the path of chastising me than to do anything positive about the numerous code issues that affect the city and all of its citizens.
I have been threatened before with removal, and, if that is the only course of action you choose to take, then so be it. It certainly would be easier than addressing the many code problem facing the city, but won't change a thing. It won't make the city a better place to live, it won't make the city's code enforcement any more attentive, and it won't change the commitment of citizens like me to improve the city we live in.
I know you and others do not understand. I can't help you with that. It all has to do with our own, personal values, and only you can change yours. In our daily lives, we all have to decide how well we are going to do our daily work, and who is at fault when we fail. Apparently, the city's failure is my fault because I have the audacity to point out that the "Emperor has no clothes."
