This road has been in horrible shape since the fall. Its just outright dangerous! I live in t his neighborhood & this road should be completely cut off .Its UN-DRIVEABLE. I have damage to my car because of this road. There are huge pot holes including some that are a foot deep. The rain makes the road worse and when dark you cannot see the potholes at all. I know myself as well as my neighbors are very upset and disappointed that this road has been left in this condition. Workers only come out about once a week to work on this mess. When is it going to get finished & who is going to pay for the damage to my car.... including shocks, tires, alignment, etc?

Here is an update from Public Utilities: Thank you for your comments concerning the condition of Whitaker Mill Rd. We are working with the contractor daily to manage the remaining work associated with this roadway. Construction work in older areas of Raleigh, such as the Five Points Area, can be difficult and lengthy as a result of various types of abandoned infrastructure below the pavement. This work is close to completion, but there will continue to be lane closures and heavy equipment travelling on and in the roadway in order to accomplish this. We are expecting to complete work on Whitaker Mill Rd, and the associated side roads of Sunset Rd and Scales St by the end of this month. This schedule is subject to change depending on unmarked buried infrastructure conflicts and depending on the weather, however the current 10-day forecast looks favorable as of 1/17.
Specifically, the construction efforts remaining on Whitaker Mill Rd include the following:
-Asphalt patching on Whitaker Mill Rd between McCarthy St and Reaves Dr is scheduled for Monday, 1/20.
-Sewer line replacement on Whitaker Mill Rd between Reaves St and Pine St will occur between Tue., 1/21 through Fri., 1/25 and continue on Mon., 1/27 to Wed. 1/29.
-The final length of asphalt patching on Whitaker Mill between Reaves St and Carson St will occur after the sewer line replacement is completed, with a target date of 1/29-1/30.
-Side streets of Whitaker Mill with associated water service connection work include Scales St and Sunset Dr. This work on side streets will occur over the next two weeks and on Saturdays in January.
The two-lane section of Whitaker Mill Rd between Glenwood Ave and Reaves St has been added to the Public Works Department’s 2014 resurfacing list. This resurfacing work will occur sometime between March – October 2014.
