Description

Good Afternoon

I live at 4300 Fitzhugh Avenue, the corner lot behind the Marshall Center. I have \been told various reasons for this building's purpose. I know it to be a social services building. One purpose is for those dealing with court ordered or anger management reasons. Another reason is for adult day care for those need to be reminded to take medication for mental issues.

My issue with this building is that supervision of these clients can be uneven. Over the last year, I have had to ask mental clients and construction workers to remove themselves from sitting at my side gate on a small step which is my property. Those that sit on the curb are often eating their lunch and do leave trash.

Other issues include being asked by mental clients for food or money to get food or for transportation. I have had workmen come to my house and experience the same. There are times where clientele will sit on the curb in front of my house, where I can clearly see them.

For the past few months, there has been construction working on the building. I know I have never been notified of pending work before the construction work began. It looks as if they are adding a second floor to this building.

There has never been any communication stating the purpose of said construction. I do not know if it is to add further clients. If they add further clients, I do not know if they are going to be able to properly supervise them.

At night, they must be working inside because I can see into their building with lights brightly lit past 11PM.

I would like to find out what their intent is at this building and see that they can properly co-exist in this neighborhood, if they are to remain open. Otherwise, I do not want to have to worry about improperly supervised persons being outside behind me all day, every day.

Thank you for your time.

Karen Olney
