Do the police ever enforce the city noise ordinances?
Boots
Can't really answer that but since the ordinance has been given 'teeth' it's more enforceable than ever before. We're hopeful that we CAN get the laws enforced.

what is the cost of the ticket if any is issued when this ordinance is broken?
Tina (Guest)
The fine varies depending on what violation is issued. Violation of the Hartford City Noise ordinance (Chapter 23) is a Community Court summons, a fine up to $90.00 or jail up to 25 days. Whereas a motor vehicle or recreational vehicle exceeding maximum noise levesl is a violation of CGS 14-80a which was as of last year a $225.00 fine. One could also be given an infraction for Creating a Public Disturbance which is a fine of $103.00 (53A-181)

Please forward this to your elected officials and ask for more enforcement here.

Has anyone from the City taken any steps to investigate and correct this problem? The car radios and motorcycles and noisy mufflers and rumbling speeding trucks are turning a peaceful neighborhood into a nightmare. Please give us a timeframe when this issue will be addressed.

Has the buck been passed?
A phone call to 311 to check on status of this case informs that it has been routed to Constituent Services. The last time that happened (over 1 year ago), it went into the void never to be heard from again.
Anyone paying attention out there?

I found that case #55619 was created and forwarded to Constituent service, I will contact them for a follow up. You can also contact them at 860-757-9524.
