Children Crossing Lights on Riesling are aout of order is Archived 10 People want this fixed

Children Crossing Lights on Riesling are aout of order for several months. Even after school started these lights have not been fixed. It has a "out of order" bag on them. I was told there is little budget to fix them. Its a shame a child must get hurt before someone fixes it

Still Not fixed as of October 27th, 2009: Got an update from the Petaluma city council in early October, see below. Does not look like they will be fixing it anytime soon. We’ve been looking at ways to temporarily fix the lighting. Unfortunately, that doesn’t look feasible at this time because the street wiring is damaged beyond repair. The entire light wiring system needs to be fixed. That means that the project scope and cost has now greatly increased. We are looking into ways to fund replacement of the system.

How about dropping in some temporary concrete blocks/bollards, or speed bumps (rubber surfaces you can just drop in) until funding is available? They are very cheap and reduce traffic speeds, improving safety. Safety should be the #1 priority here and I am sick of all the excuses.

You know that a fantadtic idea, speed bump before the crosswalk would alert drivers of pedestrians. Just a few days ago I almost saw a man and his dog run over because the driver was not paying attension. The bumps would have helped then. Great idea lets hope they do it.

Here is an update, not only are the lights still not working the out of order signes are are old they are faded and are hardly visible from far. Not only that but right above the crosswalk the street light which would at least light up the crosswalk is broken as well. There are 10 lights on that street only the one above thayt is broken. At night it hardly possible to see someone at that crossing. I think maybe they are waiting for someone to get hurt or die to fix it.

No $ to fix it huh? r u kidding me. the cross walk on N. McDowell is nice and pretty with a million lights and tore up the allighment on my car after driving over the so called "nightly cover-up" job.

I was driving home when I saw this kid heading into the cross walk, I stopped but as the kid was in the middle this lady comes driving along and almost hit him I had to scream and honk! as I drove on by her I said out the window please slow down she says sorry I wasnt paying attention!!! wow...but I have noticed that if you push on the plastic the sign lights up , but not the street..needless to say please people slow down and PAY ATTENTION!!! so please get that light fixed! asap before someone gets hurt or worse yet killed! to many kids going back & forth to the park & store and not to mention the school children who walk home unsupervised...SLOW DOWN. THANK YOU

Thank you sharing your amazing story Sherry. The city is not interested in fixing things that may help people or kids they are only interested in what a few "important" people want. I am sure if someone on the commisson had a request to build an exit so they can get home earlier it would be done in 5 minutes but safety for kids not so important.

Looks like they finally did something, they removed the out of order sign. Most lights work but not all but it finally fixed took over a year or close to it.

The out of order signs have been removed and most but not all lights have been fixed. and it only took a year
