Description

On the Corner of State St. & Brown St. next to Franks Bakery is a very dangerous area. Its become apparent over the years that an accident is eminent. Due to blind spots and people speeding. Also some drivers don't seem to pay enough attention (negligent driving) If not so already it's painfully obvious a deadly accident can and will happen there sooner or later.. As a pedestrian this is a scary place to cross with very busy people coming and going from the bakery as well as the Millers Drug Pharmacy directly across the street. I propose that it's looked into by the city of Bangor. Also I would like to recommend 3 solutions of my own. 1. That the street become one way and enter State street only but no one be allowed to turn off State onto Brown as this is the main problem. It's too busy there with blind spots from large vehicles parking near the bakery. 2. That Brown street actually be blocked where it meets State Street so that only residence can enter Brown from York Street. or 3. Ban all parking on and near Brown street. For example Ban parking directly in front of Franks Bakery on State and ban parking on Brown at least near the Bakery. I've noticed some people that may work for Franks tend to park willy nilly onto Brown and park too far from the sidewalk causing unnecessary blind spots for both pedestrians and traffic. One last thing I would like to see is authorities perhaps speak to both the owners of Franks Bakery and that of Miller Drug to perhaps put up signs urging their customers to urge caution when visiting their establishments or even for the owners to reconsider how people access their parking areas (though I don't think Franks has a parking lot). This area can get extremely busy any time of year and in winter months with snow banks in the way it's even more dangerous.
