Description
The stop signs coming out of the Price Chopper Plaza and the access road are not labeled that this is a 3-way stop. Anyone on the access road trying to make a left cannot see the oncoming traffic with the right-of-way. Based on site-lines and the amount of traffic, there cars should not be allowed to turn left or go straight across at this intersection. It's way too dangerous and no one waits their turn.

The posting of a "3 way" supplemental sign to a Stop sign is no longer allowable under the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices(MUTCD). However, upon further research there are some other supplemental panels that can be used: "TRAFFIC FROM LEFT(RIGHT) DOES NOT STOP" and also "ONCOMING TRAFFIC DOES NOT STOP".
I will raise this issue at the next Clifton Park Highway Safety Committee meeting on Thursday.
Ideally, the opening in the median would be closed. However, this would raise significant economic concerns withe the adjacent business owners (Taco Bell, HSBC, Friendlys). It would probably only be advanced as a last resort.

As far as I can tell, nothing has been done here. Closing the median would be an issue for the surrounding businesses, but making the cross-road "Right Turn Only" during peak traffic times would not have an economic impact. There are other ways to get to those businesses on the access road.
Right now people block the intersection, don't wait their turn or pull out in front of on-coming traffic, unaware that those drivers have the right-of-way.

The supplemental panels mentioned below were put in place a few months back. They seem to work ok until the light for traffic exiting the Plaza turns green, then it's a free-for-all. In addition, some of the oncoming traffic (that does not have a stop sign) doesn't realize they have the right of way and stops.
It's better than it was, and I'll list this as closed, but the town should keep an eye on this area - it's still very dangerous.
