Description
yesterday i was trapped for 30 min in a parking spot, by coffee wanting tim hortons addicts. I could not back out due to the 20+ cars lined up to get their goods. Noone would be kind enough to let me out even when i got out of my car and asked. When i finally did get out i had to pass the lineup on the wrong lane and was almost hit by an oncoming car. Maybe a re-route is needed.

why dont you take your own suggestion, park in the empty parking lot, and go in.
JustSaying (Guest)
@ fifilapu
I think they meant that they were at one of the shopping stores and the line up stretches by half that parking lot blocking people in.. they wouldnt be able to go forward if someone is parked in front.. or back up due to the line.
Geeze

Why do you make an excellent comment, only to belittle yourself with such a derogatory last comment ?
CB (Guest)
I have seen the line back to the ave by the shell station, and the sad thing was there was 2 police cars and 1 RCMP car and the officers were inside , driven by on many occasions seeing law enforcement in the parking lot, I guess that is acceptable by there standards, so unfortunately do not see a quick resolve as it has been that way since they opened, I refuse to go to that location now , I guess like anything else in this City, it will take a serious accident or a tragic event before this is dealt with, mark my words.

Although he 2nd ave location is terrible, the address of this one is cornerstone
transplant (Guest)
both of those tims are terrible... the one on 2nd has a huge sign that says traffic line up in the parking lot, but theres alot of people needing to learn how to read. the one at corner stone is also horrid! they block off traffic and wont let people by!
as for the fatties comment. i use various drive thru's (none tims don't go there actually) for banking and what not, not because im lazy but bc i have 4 kids that are generally in tow. 2 of them are under 2 so need to be carried. so before you pass judgement just use common sense
Closed doesn't matter (Guest)
I think that if you get trapped in a line up ... Instead of waiting for 30 mins only to complain about it later and then call all the people who choose to sit in their car instead of braving the cold fatties. Perhaps next time this happens. And judging by your ignorance it will. Here is an amazing idea. Go inside and talk to the manager on shift.

dear issue closed i was parked in a parking lot while shopping in marks work warehouse. I was NOT in line for coffee. There was a car parked in front of me and the only way to leave was to back out. BUT... i was unable to due to the line-up of vehicles waiting to go through the tims drive through. At first i thought that people would be nice and give way to me so i could back up. But i was wrong. I only waited that long since i was actually trying to back out unsuccessfully, and vehicles would not let me out. As for my ignorance, i do not believe that being a patient person was ignorant. As for talking to a manager what could they have done.....they are not going to go outside and direct traffic. Next time i am trapped i will just call the police. They can come direct traffic, and maybe a few people will be forced to move. I hope you get trapped next time.
Dodge5066 (Guest)
Most people who go through drive through end up spending more time that if they walked in.. Ive went in and got my food and the car that was in the line up only moved two cars.
deb (Guest)
ppl are ignorant at any given time. ppl have bad days and good days. the ppl who did not let you let you drive out of your parking stall, are rude. perhaps , next time park where you are able to drive out easily. sad to say, but, sometimes ignorant ppl just ruin a good day. the line up should be changed so that the traffic flow comes in on 6th avenue. lets see a new thread open on this thought. :)

Just wait until they build the new tims in front of TBS, then the DIM WITS will block off marquis. It's not the business's fault that people ARE NOT SMART ENOUGH to know they shouldn't block off traffic....And it's not the company's fault PEOPLE ARE NOT SMART ENOUGH to make their own coffee. Tim's sells their coffee grounds and you can have it at home for a quarter the price.
I believe parking lot incidents are no fault so if you have a cruddy car, back into them. They will cry and probably scream, because for one thing, they'll be late getting their coffee, and now their car has a scuff on it.
Pay it forward (Guest)
Common courtesy should be atomatic, however that is like Common sense, not everyone has it! The sad fact is that it is quicker to go through the drive thru, than going inside to the counter, maybe the owner should work on that glitch.
ya (Guest)
I've gone there this week everday, and went inside every time and was out faster than the last guy in the DT
Reopened Darkitty (Guest)
It shouldn't have been closed, only one day open?? there are item that are still open after 3 months!
TJ (Guest)
I park in that aria a lot and have had the same problem but since I own an old truck with big solid bumpers I just start to back up and the idiots find a way to avoid me hitting them. Yes they are ignorant and don't know anything about common courtesy but I just give them the same attitude back and so far it has worked well. Next time park beside me and I will make a hole in the line up for you.
momof3 (Guest)
LOL I love tJ's response. Done that too with the hubbys huge truck,,getting to where I don;t want to shop Workmens wearhouse etc in the the strip mall,,,,as more of a pain to get around the vechiles. I do park way off to the right to get to the shops, and make sure I get out.,My kids sure hate it though, As frozen popsicles by time we get to the store.
timmy (Guest)
As I'm not sure if this area is private property or a "roadway", maybe the police and sgi sould determine if this is an offence under the highway traffic act and start handing out tickets ( like they do in the fire lane at Walmart). Of course I don't expect the developer to do anything proactive.
truck driver (Guest)
i hear ya, but think of this...is coffee that important to you that you would get yourself in this position??...as for me i make it at home...maybe try going a bit earlier?? to avoid the line ups??...as for those people that line up on the street ive been telling people to just blast the horn at them to move...maybe this will work??....
jade (Guest)
how many times can i stress this... i was not in the lineup for coffee.....i was parked in the parking lot of marks work wearhouse. A vehicle had parked in the spot in front of me so i could not pull forward, and the lineup of people waiting to get coffee had blocked me in. They would not move to let me out. I can also not rearrange my day to miss the coffee crowds. This took place around 2 in the afternoon. When i went into the store there was not one person in the drive through line. How could i anticipate the lineup behind my car when i was leaving.
TJ (Guest)
I hear you Jade and like I said I have been in the same position. Just lay on the horn and try to get them moving and if you see an old truck ask the owner to make you a hole. Rednecks in trucks will always help a lady in distress.
KK (Guest)
I dont really see how anyone in the lineup would be able to get off the way for someone to get out of their parking stall. Ive been in that line up before. When you want to get out of the way your sandwiched in. It is bad for both sides. And whats frustrating is that their is incoming and outgoing traffic in the lane beside the lined up cars. I don't know what genius designed this setup. I have never seen another drivethru in town like it. And agreed..it will take one or more accidents for the owner to fix the problem.
JA (Guest)
Eveybody knows the line up is there or is going to be there so a simple solution is not to park on that side then you won't be boxed in.
yathink? (Guest)
Simple solution.....get rid of drive-throughs in Prince Albert period.
Startlc (Guest)
I have had this problem as well, it is up to the business to do something about it and they wont, I have also complained to the other stores (Marks, Reitmans) but they say they can't do anything. My solution, I don't shop in that area, maybe if they start losing business they will sit down and talk with the owner of Tims, After all Tim's is preventing them from making a living which is a human rights issue! Oh the same thing happens on 2nd, and that prevents traffic from moving, the police can get involved in that manner as 2nd Ave is a public road. And if your blocked just start creaping in, no one wants their vehicles damaged someone will let you out...:)
transplant (Guest)
i dont shop at marks or reitmans for THIS reason!
I moved to SK 7 years ago, and couldn't get over the way people drive, they are so inconsiderate to others on the road or even walking for that matter! its sad that the stores that are near timmy's will suffer because people dont want to get trapped in the parking lot!
Vlasic
Yes, how dare this person park in a spot reserved for (gasp!) parking! The nerve! Seriously? Ppl are giving THEM grief? How about the inconsiderate clods who would run down their own mother to get into Timmies drive-thru? Lay some grief on THOSE oafs! Newsflash: Tim Hortons isn't gonna run out of coffee, and you're not gonna keel over if (god forbid!) you have to actually get out of your car and walk 20 or 30 feet into the place if the drive-thru is too busy! Sheesh!
PAGuy
is this at Cornerstone?
Love this city (Guest)
i had the same thing at the "illegal" to block zone on 2nd. Honked waited, twice more then held my horn on till the idiot moved!!!
Tim
Deal with it from the customer side:
============================
-- File customer complaints with Tim's and any of the other businesses involved...verbally or in writing.
-- stop shopping there (Go over to Great Western Coffee, Roll up the rim should be done by now)
.
Business people:
==============
-- How about the businesses on the other side of Tim's in Cornerstone step up to the plate and address this issue?
.
--Better yet, Tim's....step up to the plate and come up with a working solution yourself.
.
Vlasic
Hmmm, methinks Tim Hortons is too busy counting their bazillions to care about the traffic snarls their drive-thrus cause. To quote Charlie Sheen: "I've already got yer money!"
PA could easily have 2 more Timmies. I don't recall ever seeing Tim Hortons fever in Saskatoon anywhere near as bad as in PA.
TJ (Guest)
I would like to point out that the line up problem at the cornerstone Tim's appears to be a little better lately. Maybe it's just the weather or maybe people have read about the problem and adjusted their attitudes for the better. Either way it's an improvement and even though there are still some rude people out there I would like to thank those who have made getting in and out of the parking aria better.
anon (Guest)
Try non Tim Hortons coffee houses and walk in. I don't know why people tolerate Timmies Drive thru or parking lots.
sketchy (Guest)
I think the problem lies with the Tim Hortons staff people are lined up out the door and they cant move any faster then first gear, hustle people hustle, and God forbid if they get your order right the first time. I quit going !!!
Dag (Guest)
Don't bother complaining to Tim's, for it probably will not work. Better yet, brew your own coffee at home for 8 cents a cup, and use your savings to buy a nice Thermos. Stop going to Tim's, and convince your friends to stop going as well. Why not do as others have suggested and just go to a real coffee shop.
Then, advise the other businesses in the area that you will no longer be able to shop at their store because of the Tim Horton traffic jams. They will soon find a way to complain to the Tim Horton management team. Personally, I think that Tim's coffee is highly over-rated, and their bakery items are loaded with fat, sugar, and starch - - and we all know what that means, so I don't go there anymore.
Go To Great West Coffee instead (Guest)
Both Tim Horton's establishments are not thought; disrepectfully laid out planning, and should be FINED for disrupting other establishments and major road routes.
is it really worth it? (Guest)
really people? Tim Horton's is a popular place, if you know you may get stuck in certain parking spot, why park there? I still shop at Marks and Urban Planet- there is always lots of parking spots available! If you are not going to Tim's then you don't even have to drive through the lot. Seriously there are way bigger issues in PA than Tim's. Grow up PA!
Deborah (Guest)
I totally agree that this problem needs to be fixed: it is just an accident waiting to happen! Tim Horton's needs to be away from intersections and strip mall just like Co-op Gas Station: it's own area where no one can get trapped or hurt by people trying to get their @#$% coffee.
flabberghasted (Guest)
one suggestion would be to open up the empty lot on the east side of the tim hortons on 2nd and 15th and rerout the drive through it. its nearly impossible to get on to second ave or turn onto 15th from second due to huge line ups sometimes going as far back as the shell station, especially now with the construction going on its not just an inconvienience its a safety hazard as well .its not just effecting tim hortons customers but mainstream traffic. i couldnt imagine what would happen if an ambulance of fire truck needed to get through there during a timmies rush! something needs to be done!
guest (Guest)
this is a horrible issue and the police sit in the lineup on the street as well there is a sign stating no blocking the street so does someone have to be killed before something gets done?
theThinker
this issue will remain open for a long time......
the City is responsible for the business plan approvals
the City needs to step and make some suggestions
Ick (Guest)
Not only in parking lots but streets as well. The new Tim's on Marquis has almost caused a few collisions when patrons have exited the parking lot without looking to even see if it was clear to go. I hate Tim Hortons!!!!
jazzyjess (Guest)
I agree -- if you were not brave enough to slowly inch your way out until someone has no choice but to let you out (which I don't blame you for not being brave enough to do so with all the road rage these days, haha) ---then after a few minutes, you could have got out of your car and walked in to Tim's and asked to talk to a manager. And YES, there is something they can do about it because YES, he/she will actually come out and direct traffic! I have personally seen the manager at 2nd Ave have to do this before. That would have been a sensible solution. By the way, I can't believe all the comments on this one. Don't we have worse problems in PA??!?! LOL
jazzyjess (Guest)
Oh and yes, I know you were at Cornerstone, I am just saying that I have seen the 2nd Ave manager have to come out before to assist with traffic jams created by his store.
