Description
Once & for all, I would like City of Chicopee (or Commonwealth of Massachusetts) to investigate the vacant property on Memorial Dr, which is located btwn F.L. Roberts Mobil (cor Memorial Dr & New Ludlow Rd) & Freedom Federal Credit Union. This vacant lot is a blight to the Fairview section of Chicopee, as the weeds/overgrown brush is there from Spring thru Fall, PLUS the Public Walkway (sidewalk) is NEVER shoveled/plowed throughout the Winter months, rendering the walkway impassible for elderly & handicapped. There are City Ordinances about clearing snow / ice from public walkways by no more than 24 hours after a snowstorm, yet no one can WALK / nor utilize a wheelchair along this section of Memorial Drive without walking ONTO DANGEROUS and HEAVILY TRAVELED Memorial Drive traffic ! ! !

Common Ordinances, City of Chicopee, MA - Streets & Sidewalks - Snow & Ice Removal (243-34,35,36):
"Owners of property abutting a sidewalk are responsible for cleaning the sidewalk of snow WITHIN 24 hours after snowfall. The owner is also responsible for removing ice (or placing sand on the ice) and for removing snow that has drifted or fallen on to the sidewalk." - Enforcement: Chicopee Police Department; Fine: $50 1st Offense.
The following businesses/residences are in violation of the aformentioned Ordinace, i.e. Sidewalk in front of a residence located at 1793 Memorial Drive; A long-standing vacant parcel of land located at/listed as 1994 Memorial Drive. The sidewalks on these properties are NEVER plowed/shoveled after snowstorms. Additionally, PRIME FOOD & FUEL, 1869 Memorial Drive @ corner of Britton Street as well as Century 21 & Countryside Constuction, LLC, also located at corners of Memorial Drive & Britton Street is a major school crosswalk. Not even the Crossing Guards can access the BUTTON on the crosswalk device for SAFELY allowing students to GO TO or COME FROM the Veterans Memorial School located on Britton Street. And, finally, with a population of elderly, handicapped & disabled persons residing at Fairhaven (Chicopee Housing Authority), some of these people cannot utilize sidewalks or cross Memorial Drive at that busy, impassable intersection when they want to patronize the stores in the & near that area!
