They speed through this WHOLE neighborhood! It's terrible and isn't going to stop unless someone gets hits. And with the crummy job the city is doing plowing the roads here, leaving people to walk in the roads, it's going to be sooner rather than later!
Speeding on Ballina, Speeding on Donegal, Speeding on Sherman... come on now! Get the picture Troy! This is a huge problem!
See, Click, Fix my rear end... nothing is getting fixed. I want to see a speed trap! I want to see more stop signs! I want to see speed bumps!
Unfortunately Stephenie speed bumps we were told up here on Stow are not legal on city streets, go figure (they have them in "The Other South Troy" but for the rest of us hummmmm.....however, the Chief of Police has pulled all the officers from all the programs SOS, Schools, etc so we can have more police presence on the streets, I wonder where that is cause I haven't seen any remarkable change in my neighborhood as a matter of fact I think I see less Police! Maybe they're busy in the Mayors district who knows?
Well speed bumps are not legal because of our Seasons here, how can you plow with speed bumps. I don't know where the "other South Troy" is, I don't think we have any of them in the City except in perhaps Parking lots. There is one that I know of in the Lansingburgh High School lot.
Why not get a plate off of some of these cars and if you know who they are send a letter to their home from the Assn. describing the dangers it presents. Possibly the speeders who then know that YOU know who they are, will stop. It might be a good 1st step in the right direction, then notify your Community Police Officer of a car description and time line, so perhaps a ticket could get issued.
The police do not seemed interested. I live on Donegal and my car was side swiped. I made a police report out and they couldn't do anything because no one saw who hit me. Am I suppose to call the cops everytime I see a speeder? Demand a ticket be issued? I don't think my radar gun is properly calibrated either.....
The police need to witness the violations and issue the penalties. I can only alert them to the problems, which I have. Do you know in December a deer was hit and killed at the bottom of Donegal, by the carwash? The police were notified to that as well. I sure hope they got a ticket, because there is no way a deer cannot be avoided (or on the slight chance the deer was determined to be hit, then not injuried severely enough to be killed) at 25mph! Kids ride their bikes on this road, people walk their pets. There are no sidewalks, that deer could of been someone walking to the cumby's! Also, HVCC has speed dips, and seem to handle the plowing just fine.
The other South Troy is the only South Troy Recognized by the Mayor of this city we when revitilizing "South Troy" leaves out a very integeral part of "South Troy" regarding improvements and grants, the South Troy south of South End Tavern. There is a community of homeowners and taxpayers there as well who are consistantly ignored by this city regarding IMPROVEMENTS that would also include Morrison and Vandenburg Ave and all the surrounding side streets there as well along with Stow Ave and the many side streets there. How does he in good conscience pick and choose? Most of the city has been in these revitilization programs since he began his administratorship (it is only grants for undeveloped blighted areas) which is determined by ? but these areas are in his own plans included then NOT included when the money comes.
Many of the Grants awarded are only allowed in areas of low income determined by the last Census Tract figures. There have also been complaints by people living on the East side. There are no blights there and they are of higher income so the Grants are awarded where the needs are greatest. So it really isn't picking and choosing nor playing favorites.
