Description

Historically, if there was a holiday in a given week, trash pickup would be delayed by one day. It seems that SOMETIMES that is still the case...other times it is not. Like today....when I dragged my turkey-hungover self and my cuppa to my back steps for dog airing duty....only to hear "BEEP-BEEP-BEEP" and see a garbage truck backing down my street. I stared from it to the massive pile of trash bags overflowing my usually-adequate brown bin (the result of pre-holiday cleanup as well as cleanup from last night's feast)...to my also overflowing recycling bin...and back to the truck. Nuts!

So it seems there is no longer an easily-remembered rule about holiday pickup. I know ultimately this is on me as I suppose I should've checked the web to see if there were any changes to the schedule or not....on the list of priorities leading up to hosting my family holiday, that didn't even register, alas. Plus my head is still stuck in the old way this was dealt with.

Is there a set schedule that I can access, print, and hang on the fridge that covers the year and tells which holidays delay pickup and which don't? If not, could someone please consider making one? I'm sure I'm not the only one with this problem.

Also, as stated, I am already way over capacity for trash and recycling in my bins...does that mean I'm on the hook for fines come next week's pickup? Plus I'd rather not have all that stuff hanging around for a week. Can I just load it in my truck and bring it to the transfer station? I've got the rest of the day free, so please advise. Thanks!
