Description
During summer 2010, 28th st south (22206) was dug up for water line repair. The road was never restored to pre-construction conditions. Sections of the curb have yet to be replaced. Large potholes exist filled with construction equipment. And with the weather as it's been, the road surface has become extremely uneven and bumpy. Please restore to pre demolition condition.

The Department of Environmental Services installed a new water main on 28th Street South during the fall. There were some delays with this project and we were unable to complete the work before the winter. The project was then put on hold for the season as there were urgent water main repairs that required the immediate attention of our crews.
We anticipate completing the water main installation within the next three weeks, weather permitting. Following completion of the water main work, crews will then repave the street. Our target for completion is mid- to late-April. In the meantime, we have asked our crew to take a look at the roadway and see if any temporary patching can be done. Please contact the Water Sewer Streets Bureau at 703-228-6555 if you have any other questions or concerns.

Thank you for reporting this issue. Work on Arlington streets generally starts at around 7 AM for activities such as paving, curb and gutter repair and asphalt patching which is consistent with the County's noise ordinance (7A-9P M-F, 10A-9P S-S). The water main installation (now complete) was more disruptive to traffic in the area, so that work was starting a bit later in the morning to allow for traffic to die down a bit and also to ensure that any of the affects to water services happened after folks have had a chance to prepare for the day rather than shutting off water too early in the morning.
The work is close to complete. The main is installed and in service, the individual connections are tied back in, the old main is abandoned and much of the patching and restoration has also been completed. Some additional curb, gutter and sidewalk adjustments are now going to happen in preparation for paving the whole street along the project limits. Please contact the Water Sewer Streets Bureau at 703-228-6555 if you have any other questions or concerns.
