Description

It would be excellent if this area could become more open to public and cleaned up.
People fish here all the time but they have to enter from behind the rink because there is a fence on State Street.

I agree, great idea! In fact, there is a required (sate DEP or city?) set back greenway access to all major water courses in the city. Some parts of this are partially developed for recreational access, others not at all. I would be far from the first person in New HAven to promote a vision for an interconnected web of trails and access to nature and water that would connect the whole city and beyond. Developing this one spot would be a GREAT place to put in some effort.

Parks Department just cleaned up all the weeds an overgrowth next to the Ice Skating Rink.
There will be a community clean-up of the area on Saturday November 22'nd.

The City has received a grant from the State to start a trail here!!

Additionally the District development at James street now includes a plan for a canoe launch and trail!

Happy to say that there are plans for trail construction to potentially start here in the spring. Rumors of a mural and possible skatepark are also in the works!
