the town has been ANYTHING BUT supportive on this issue. this has been a problem for nearly 10 years. this road used to be paved every 10 years and was maintained well prior to Rudy Marconi taking office. This is getting ridiculous, rip up the road and repave the entire thing. I am going to take pictures and sbmit to the Ridgefield press and post all over town until this is fixed. Im at my breaking point.
fix the road already. what is the town waiting for, stop filling in the potholes and just re-do the entire road as it should have been done many, many years ago..
Legal definition of a Private Road --
private road n. - a road or driveway on privately-owned property, limited to the use of the owner or a group of owners who share the use and maintain the road without help from a government agency. A private road has not been given to a government entity (like a county or city) and accepted by that entity for public use.
thanks ken- but the problem is it isnt a private road anymore. the town is legally liable to maintain the road to prevent accidents and allow the road to be smooth and passable in case of emergency, therefore emergency vehicles and ambulances are able to get to the scene quickly and efficiently. The town for the last 20 years has maintained the road ex. snow plowing, fixing potholes, repaving parts of the road, police activity, guardrail construction, etc. Therefore your definition of a private road is inaccurate in this situation in that the town has helped maintain the road.
Lakeside Drive and Lakeside Drive Extension are just one giant pothole from one end to the other. About a year ago the city paved the first 100 feet in on Lakeside Drive, and from that point on it is nothing but holes, holes, holes. The city knows they're there - they keep coming in and filling the holes with fine gravel - but they don't PAVE them over! What are we paying taxes for? PAVE the road already!!!
I run Lakeside Drive everymorning. Today I badly twisted my ankle. The entire road needs to be pulled up and started from scratch, like they did near Main Street. There is still torn up chunks of asphalt laying next to protected woodland areas. THIS IS A DISGRACE TO RIDGEFIELD.
