I've called Traffic and Parking on this before. It seems to be a chronic problem, and when I check I find many many empty parking spaces in the parking lot at the corner of Onyx and Fitch while cars are parked illegally on Jewell in front of and across from the school. This problem requires consistent enforcement so buses can get in and out easily without traffic backing up on Blake Street because parents/caregivers and others visiting the school don't park in designated parking areas.

Issue still not taken care of. Today I called the Traffic & Parking Department phone number and left a message that the issue is NOT completed. I don't understand it. Please take the no parking signs down if parking is allowed on Jewel St. across from the school.

Dear Doug, I don't understand how this issue was closed. The NO PARKING signs are still up on Jewel St. across from Beecher School and people still park there. I realize that these are parents picking up their kids (mostly) but then, shouldn't the NO PARKING signs be replaced with 15 MINUTE PARKING signs? I have seen these signs in other places in New Haven. Nothing has changed since I reported this issue in the fall. Please help.

I'm glad this has been reacknowledged. The issue was begun back in the fall and it really is time for some action on the part of the city. Thanks.

Any changes to the signs would require Board of Alderman approval. Director Douglas Hausladen has requested to meet with the safety committee for the school in efforts to assist you in this matter..
