Here we are in April 2014. These potholes have not been addressed after 6 months, and literally, nothing has been done about them.
You are in the City budget process. Street repair, while not as "sexy" as economic development, is critically important.
The issue is further exaggerated by the misinformation distributed to the public regarding the response times that is not met. I spent last week in the Phoenix area, and not one municipality had streets anywhere near the condition that ours is in. Heck, I watched the Great Race on TV last night and Sri Lanka had streets in better condition than Tucson. Last I checked, that is a third world nation.
To close, if the condition of the alleys, which is owned by the City, represents the vision for tomorrows streets, be truthful with the citizens.
If I need to solicit "votes" to get this addressed, please advise. The streetcar will be starting within 4 months and these are within 200 feet of University.
On July 25th, the multi-million dollar investment in light rail is due to commence. I would ask the Mayor and the Council people, as they are waving while riding on the maiden voyage, to check out the condition of the residential streets within 100 feet of the rail.
West University is changing quickly for the worst, and it's not due to new development or lack of complex zoning regulations, it's due to a collective disinterest in the maintenance of our public and private property. Trash is beyond prevalent, property maintenance is frequently awful, and pot holes are ignored.
Is the belief that this will get better by ignoring the issues?

Government really needs to be better than this.

Not surprisingly, these potholes are getting larger and they now have new holes showing up.
This is not 9 months since initially reported.
